"Franklin, Innate Divine Ability!" Lei Mo ordered in his mind.
A shadow of the Heaven-Piercing Pillar appeared behind Lei Mo, as if he were using his Innate Divine Ability.
The pillar was nearly ten thousand meters tall, almost reaching through the underground space.
"Whoosh—" A phantom Rune Matrix, intricate and elaborate, plunged into the beast that looked like a bouncing ball.
A little while later, a ripple trembled through the air, forming a voice.
"Master and Master's master!"
"Uh! What are you? No, I mean, what kind are you? Are you a magic beast or a divine beast, or what?" Lei Mo asked.
"I don't know. I was born in that little pool, but after only a few years, Master caught me and then controlled me."
The bouncing ball vibrated the air as it replied. It could instinctively produce a voice by making the air tremble.
"What was in that little pool? Why is there no water here?" Lei Mo fired off one question after another.
The bouncing ball—or jellyfish-like creature—seemed a little confused and couldn't explain.
But it said it could lead the way so they could take a look at the little pool.
Franklin had already withdrawn the Rune Soul from that place. Led by the little ball, Lei Mo reached the area beneath the pool and saw a puddle of golden liquid, just like a pool of molten gold.
A small bead floated above the liquid. It was tiny, only a little bigger than a quail egg, but perfectly round. Even with Lei Mo's keen eyesight, he couldn't spot a single irregularity!
The puddle of golden liquid spread across an area of more than ten square meters. It lay in the pool like a gel, motionless and insoluble in the water.
"Master and Master's master, I was born in this puddle of golden liquid, so I don't know if I'm a divine beast or something else!"
The little ball spoke in an adorably innocent voice.
"Then do you have a name? I can't just call you Ball, can I? What can you do?" Lei Mo asked.
"I don't have a name. I was only born a few years ago, so I haven't come up with one yet!" The little ball sounded rather aggrieved.
"Then from now on, you'll be called—Bailey. Ah, I really am a genius at naming!"
Lei Mo was quite pleased with himself. Ignoring Bailey's resentful little eyes—if it really had any—he settled the matter.
Franklin objected even less. As long as his master was happy, that was all that mattered.
When Bailey first showed itself, it really had looked like a jellyfish. But now that Lei Mo had a good look, it did look a bit like a ball, with a few curled-up tentacles at the bottom.
How to describe it? Imagine a soccer ball with a quarter of its volume scooped out with a spoon, then dozens of little tentacles attached to the indented curve. That was what Bailey looked like now.
Earlier, Lei Mo had gone all out and smashed Bailey with Franklin more than a dozen times. He hadn't used Franklin's God Rank strength, but the attack power of the Law of Destruction was no joke.
Yet this little thing, Bailey, hadn't been hurt in the slightest. If anything, it had become even livelier.
He'd come looking for a Water-element Saint Realm magic beast. Bailey had been born only a few years ago and was already in the Saint Realm. A suspected divine beast, perhaps? It was far stronger than an ordinary Saint Realm beast.
He had no idea what element it belonged to. When in doubt, ask.
"Bailey—which element are you? I guess you don't know either. Show me the ability you're best at. Right, use it on this pillar!"
Lei Mo tossed Franklin out, enlarged him, and planted him in the ground.
"Buzz—"
The air quivered faintly, making almost no sound, and then Bailey disappeared.
If not for the shadow still visible to their spiritual sense, no one would have known where it had gone!
"What about besides that?" Lei Mo quickly asked.
"Smack!" Bailey slammed into the ground with all its might, then bounced upward and leaped high into the air. Lei Mo's mouth fell open.
"That's—it? That's the ability you just used? So those are your only two tricks! You're all out of ideas, Bailey!"
Lei Mo was a little disappointed. This thing was supposed to be a suspected divine beast? Forget suspected—it could be a divine beast for all he cared, but what a useless ability. It had wasted an Innate Divine Ability slot!
But whatever. It was pretty cute and adorable. He could use it to charm girls later; it would probably work like a charm.
It was a water-dwelling magic beast, and a Saint Realm one at that. He just didn't know if it had any blood. He hadn't asked yet. Never mind, no need to ask!
He put away the Golden Liquid and the bead. There was nothing else here.
Still, this valley was a great place. He could cultivate here in the future, and no one would ever find it.
He quickly returned to the bottom of the lake, tossed out a handful of aquatic plant seeds, and cast Life Magic over them, completely concealing the entrance.
Only then did he shoot toward the lake surface. He flew above the water and looked out over the lake Lei Mo had named the Seti Sea, his heart full of emotion.
"Is it really this hard to find a Water-element Saint Realm magic beast? Wait, that can't be right. With a body of water this vast, there can't be only Level Eight and Level Nine magic beasts!"
"Master's master, try sensing the Water-element Laws!"
Bailey spoke up at that moment. It was more sensitive to Water-element energy, after all.
Lei Mo casually sensed it. "It's true. The Water-element energy here isn't even as dense as it is on land!"
But this was a boundless lake! How could the Water-element energy be so pathetic?
Could it all have been sucked into that underground valley? Come to think of it, that was the likeliest explanation.
"All the Water-element energy in the entire Seti Sea was drawn into that valley. Most of the energy in the valley was then drawn into the little pool, where it gave birth to that puddle of liquid. Then you were born from the liquid!"
"Bailey, if you aren't a divine beast, then the heavens make no sense!"
Lei Mo shouted.
"With such a huge area and such an ocean of Water-element energy, only you were born—and you're still this pathetic!"
Lei Mo was a little frustrated with Bailey for failing to live up to its potential. Mostly, though, he was upset about the wasted Innate Divine Ability slot.
"Let's go find a Wind-element beast and see if there are any Water-element beasts along the way." Lei Mo knew there was no point dwelling on it.
He continued searching the Seti Mountains, releasing nearly ten thousand Saint Realm souls. With Franklin's Divine Domain added to the mix, the search went quickly.
There really were a lot of Saint Realm magic beasts, but finding the right one wasn't easy. Lei Mo cared a great deal about Bill.
"I can't let his future turn out too pathetic. I'll find him a suitable Magic Crystal Core." Another half-month passed, and Lei Mo missed Rachel even more.
"A magic beast five thousand meters ahead meets your requirements, Master!"
Franklin was still the first to spot it!
Lei Mo extended his spiritual power and sensed a massive bear standing there, over fifty meters long and nearly twenty meters tall. It was a Wind-Thunder Magic Bear, a Saint Realm beast with both wind and thunder attributes.
It had blue-purple fur and exposed gray-white fangs. Its sturdy body was as tall as a seven- or eight-story building, giving it a truly imposing presence.
But that was only to other people. Lei Mo felt no pressure at all.
Lei Mo decided to take it on alone!
"Franklin, use your true form. Don't use God Rank strength. I'll go all out and see how I fare. This is a Saint Realm peak beast."
"Boom—" The Wind-Thunder Magic Bear had also sensed his spiritual power and charged toward him. Lei Mo gripped Franklin and charged to meet it.
"Bang—" His very first strike contained the Law of Destruction. Franklin grew to more than ten meters long, one end as thick as a bowl, gripped in Lei Mo's hand.
The other end had expanded to several meters in diameter. Franklin really was useful!
"Thud—" The Wind-Thunder Magic Bear's mountain-like body rocked slightly, but it held its ground. Most bear-type magic beasts excelled at defense, though the Wind-Thunder Magic Bear and Divine Wind Bear were exceptions.
Bear-type magic beasts also had one thing in common: thick skin and tough flesh. Their hides and flesh, several meters thick, shuddered as they absorbed most of the damage.
