Du Yang wasn't a bloodthirsty person, but he had his own sense of right and wrong.
People like Itachi Uchiha didn't deserve to live in this world, so he had to die.
But that was the Itachi Uchiha of the past.
Letting him die just like that would be a bit of a waste.
Marvel Multiverse.
Marvel Duyang opened his eyes.
Looking around, he found himself in a very bare-bones cell. The washroom and toilet were both extremely basic, and the stark white walls all around him felt oppressive.
Most notably, a camera in the room was pointed right at him.
Had he been locked up in a mutant prison?
This place could only be described as a mutant hell.
In the society of Lighthouse Country, mutants were regarded as freaks and discriminated against by ordinary people.
Mutants had a very difficult time surviving.
Du Yang had always lived cautiously.
They were constantly on the run from organizations like the Mutant Foundation, wandering from one place to another.
His parents had even died protecting him along the way, killed by humans.
But there was nothing he could do. In the end, Du Yang had been captured.
Mutants sent to the mutant prison were used for research.
Once they were no longer useful for research, they were thoroughly dissected so their bodies could be put to use.
Any guard could curse at or beat the mutants.
Of course, Du Yang himself had been beaten and kicked, nearly to the point of doubting his own existence. He'd been in so much pain that he couldn't even get out of bed.
The door to Du Yang's cell seemed to have been welded shut. He couldn't see what was happening outside with his own eyes.
But he could clearly hear guards in the neighboring cell abusing a mutant.
"You damn pieces of trash! You deformed freaks! How dare you fight back? Get out here, now!"
"Honestly, this is why I can't stand dealing with filthy mutants like you. Getting on the operating table should be your good fortune. It's the only reason you're here!"
The guards' curses rang out without pause.
Then came the sounds of punches and kicks, along with a mutant pleading for mercy.
And sure enough, in the cell opposite Du Yang's, two hulking white men in guard uniforms were viciously beating a mutant.
They looked at the mutant as if he were some kind of disgusting trash.
Once they'd beaten him black and blue, leaving him unable to fight back, they dragged him away like a dead dog.
In this mutant prison, mutants weren't treated as human beings at all.
It was also a reflection of Lighthouse Country society as a whole.
"What have mutants even done to deserve being treated like this?"
Du Yang was so angry he almost laughed.
He hadn't done anything evil, yet whenever anyone recognized him as a mutant, they looked at him with disgust.
Without the cheat of transmigrating at the same time, he might have been dissected in a few days and died on the operating table, reduced to a few cold figures in the mutant prison research institute's report.
Perhaps those figures would have been very useful in publishing a paper.
But the Du Yang of today wasn't the least bit worried.
He knew a little about the mutant prison. It was run by an organization called the Mutant Foundation, backed by the government and military of Lighthouse Country.
The Foundation's ultimate goal was to create the legendary Omega-level Mutant, then use it to conquer the world.
But Du Yang was already a bona fide Level Five Mutant. He hadn't become one through genetic modification, but through simple, direct sharing.
Sharing was also an exceptionally safe way to increase his strength.
As he clenched his fists, he could feel just how terrifying the power within his body was.
At the same time, he reached for the mutant inhibitor around his neck.
This was why the prison had the confidence to hold so many powerful mutants. The inhibitor was like a dog collar. Wearing one was humiliating, but it was incredibly effective.
Inside the prison, the inhibitor suppressed a mutant's abilities, preventing them from using even the slightest bit of their power.
Without their superpowers, mutants were no different from ordinary people—and might even be more fragile.
On top of the prison's tight security, with guards on patrol and a dedicated armed squad to deal with mutants, no one even considered trying to escape.
After all, the best outcome of a failed escape attempt was getting shot dead on the spot.
But when Du Yang tried to activate his Purification Power, the collar let out a shrill series of beeps, and an electric current instantly coursed through his body.
If the old Du Yang had been wearing it, he would have felt excruciating pain in his neck and been shocked until he lost control of his bodily functions.
That was just how domineering the inhibitor was. It had been designed that way.
The people who designed it had never considered mutants human.
But Du Yang wasn't afraid of it now. His Purification Power simply purified it away.
An inhibitor like this could suppress even the powerful abilities of a Level Four Mutant to some extent. But from the very beginning, its designers had never imagined it could suppress an Omega-level Mutant.
After all, the superpowers of an Omega-level Mutant were beyond the imagination of ordinary researchers.
Du Yang could escape at any time—and destroy the entire mutant prison while he was at it.
His Purification Power was on a completely different level from what ordinary people understood as evolutionary power. It was a bit like the Sunlight Shower unleashed by Orochi, the final boss.
It was a truly genuine power that reduced everything to nothing beneath its purifying light.
But he remained perfectly calm.
That brought him to one of the most absurd aspects of Marvel's setting.
No matter how powerful you were as a Marvel character, it was still possible for an ordinary person to kill you.
That's right. In the Marvel Universe, any power could be likened to a golden axe in the hands of a child.
Power was the golden axe. No matter how unbelievably powerful it was, it remained utterly separate from the person wielding it.
No matter how dangerous it was for a child to hold a golden axe, the one holding it was still just a weak child.
Lose the golden axe, or let it slip from your grasp, and you were dead.
In the Marvel Multiverse, no one was invincible.
If someone suddenly gained seemingly invincible power, that only meant they were probably not far from defeat.
Of course, in addition to becoming a Level Five Mutant, he had also shared many abilities.
But those abilities still seemed to manifest as mutant superpowers.
"I remember the researchers were after Omega-level Mutants because they had infinite possibilities and unlimited potential."
That was why Du Yang was certain his Purification Power couldn't be that simple.
It might only be the prerequisite for some other kind of power.
Or perhaps his potential had only partially awakened, and his Purification Power could awaken further.
Unfortunately, the researchers' plans had all fallen through.
They wanted to create a controllable Omega-level Mutant and gain the power they had dreamed of obtaining.
