Background / History

Electrolux enters Ye Guyi’s spiritual sea as a remnant soul. After awakening, he observes Ye Guyi and Ning Que and comes to approve of both. He agrees to forge a piece of Gold of Life into a small flying sword for Ning Que’s spiritual sea and offers to teach Ning Que magic 4 14.

He later teaches Huo Yuhao and Ning Que while pursuing his own research. His work with Ning Que spans soul spirits, cultivation techniques and the use of Soul Tool technology to create a second martial soul 110 171 251. After recovering much of his power, he helps the Golden Tree escape its shackles and offers it a choice of futures; it chooses to become master of the Undead Semi-Plane 237 238.

Elder Yi subsequently gains a physical body and leaves the Undead Semi-Plane in Ning Que’s temporary care. He intends to condense a divine position on the Douluo Plane, while another version of himself reaches the God Realm through Huo Yuhao; the plan is for the two to reunite 256 265. He continues to study the rules of life and death, aiming to become a God King directly rather than inherit an existing position 305.

Personality

Elder Yi is demanding and willing to use harsh trials to shape a student. He and Ning Que discuss severe psychological methods for tempering Huo Yuhao, though Elder Yi also teaches him to retain control over his own cultivation rather than accept power he cannot command 141 196.

His approval is not based solely on talent. He tells Ning Que that, judged only by his actions, Ning Que would not have earned a place as his disciple; Elder Yi fully accepts him after recognizing his attempt to “guard the light with darkness” 296. He also cautions Ning Que against greed when arranging the Golden Tree’s future, insisting that it choose for itself 237.

Magic and soul research

• Masters numerous Tier 9 spells across several fields, including necromancy, light, flame and dark magic; he is especially accomplished in necromancy 172.
• Can reverse a spell’s expected effect, such as using dark magic to exorcise evil or life magic to kill 172.
• Develops a forbidden spell that breaks down and reassembles matter, though he considers it incomplete 172.
• Uses spiritual suppression to prevent Jing Hongchen from activating his Soul Tools 122.

Spatial and planar techniques

• Created the Undead Semi-Plane and can operate on a scale of spatial manipulation that Ning Que cannot yet match 294.
• Offers to release the Golden Tree from the formations binding it without alerting Tang San, unless Tang San descends in person 237.
• Gains the Douluo Plane’s recognition as an envoy and incarnation after his soul becomes intertwined with Huo Yuhao’s 256.

Teaching and invention

• Guides Ning Que through the creation of a cultivation technique and protects him while he tests a dangerous soul-power seed 171.
• Develops a method of using a Level 10 life-bound Soul Tool as the foundation for Ning Que’s second martial soul, avoiding the need to wait for a million-year soul beast 251 296.
• Guides Huo Yuhao’s cultivation and trials; Huo Yuhao credits him with raising the upper limit of what he could achieve 196 304.
