Tully's End, Riverrun Opens Its Gates, Beginning with Edmure and Ending with Edmure

Suleiman looked at the head in the box, confirmed that Brynden Tully was dead, and finally relaxed.

Bryn respectfully presented the letter Brynden Tully had asked him to deliver with both hands.

"He asked me to give this to you, my lord."

Suleiman accepted the letter and unfolded it.

The handwriting on the paper was scrawled, clearly written while fleeing in the direst circumstances.

Suleiman's gaze swept across the paper, line after line.

It was merely an arrangement for what came after.

This letter had not been written for him, but for Edmure Tully.

Yet there was no way for him to deliver it to Edmure Tully now.

He could only have an enemy pass it on.

Perhaps that had been Brynden's intention from the beginning. If he returned to Riverrun alive, there would be no need to give the letter to Edmure Tully.

If he could not return to Riverrun, then he would have an enemy deliver it to Edmure Tully.

Suleiman listened as Bryn relayed Brynden Tully's final words.

He fell silent, slowly folding the letter, unfolding it, then folding it again, repeating the motion over and over.

Pity stirred within him.

"Lord Suleiman?" Seeing that Suleiman had remained silent for so long, Bryn called softly.

Suleiman came back to himself. The emotion in his eyes had already faded, returning to their usual depth.

He handed Brynden Tully's final letter to Bryn.

"Send a messenger to Riverrun."

"Give this letter to Edmure Tully."

His voice was calm, without the slightest ripple.
