The Didi Driver

At Cloud Sea Pavilion, Lin Fei had crossed paths with Cao Rui once before.

Back then, Wu Yuqing had given Cao Rui a thorough dressing-down, but he had still maintained his composure and remained unfailingly polite.

Lin Fei had thought Cao Rui was well-mannered and probably a reasonable person.

"Cao Rui..."

"Silence!"

Zhu Dacheng bellowed and pointed at Lin Fei, launching into a scolding.

"What do you think you are, calling Young Master Cao by his full name!"

"This company was founded by Young Master Cao himself. It even made the Yunzhou Daily and was named one of Yunzhou's Top Ten Young Entrepreneurs. He's a true leader among men."

"Young Master Cao, Lin Fei skipped work without cause and maliciously slandered his superior. The Human Resources Department has already fired him. He's unhappy about it, so he came here to cause trouble."

Zhu Dacheng first showered Cao Rui with praise, then deliberately smeared Lin Fei, hoping to give Cao Rui a bad impression of him.

But Zhu Dacheng didn't need to smear him. Cao Rui already saw Lin Fei as a rival in love.

Lin Fei was utterly contemptuous of Zhu Dacheng's despicable behavior.

"Pig Intestine, are you finished? If so, it's my turn."

"Shut up..."

Zhu Dacheng tried to stop him, but Cao Rui held him back.

"Let him speak. I'd like to hear what else he has to say."

Lin Fei said sternly, "Mr. Cao, I did skip work for a day. I won't deny that, and I have no complaints about being fired."

"I just wanted to tell you that Zhu Dacheng is no good. He takes kickbacks from clients, harasses female colleagues, and submits fraudulent expense claims. Shouldn't someone like him be fired too?"

Cao Rui glanced at Zhu Dacheng, who was sweating bullets.

"Young Master Cao, listen to me... He's making all this up. None of it is true."

Cao Rui naturally wouldn't take Zhu Dacheng's word for it. But whatever Zhu Dacheng had done, Cao Rui had no intention of pursuing it for now. Instead, he wanted to use the opportunity to humiliate Lin Fei.

"Lin Fei, can anyone back up what you've said?"

"Zhu Dacheng is a middle manager at this company, and he's been here longer than you. Tell me, should I believe him or you?"

"If I fired a superior every time one of his subordinates accused him without a shred of evidence, who would run my company?"

Lin Fei furrowed his brow slightly. What Cao Rui said sounded reasonable, but it was obvious he was siding with Zhu Dacheng.

There was no direct evidence, of course.

But Xu Youle and Zheng Qian could testify. Lin Fei didn't want to drag them into this, though. They still had to work at the company, after all.

"Mr. Cao, if you believe me, investigate Zhu Dacheng. I'm sure you'll find evidence."

"If you don't believe me, there's nothing I can do. Just take it as a friendly warning."

With that, Lin Fei turned to leave.

Cao Rui stepped forward and blocked his path.

"Hold it. Did I say you could leave?"

"You assaulted a security guard and damaged company property. I can call the police and have you arrested."

Seeing Lin Fei being given a hard time, Xu Youle gritted his teeth and stepped forward.

"Mr. Cao, I can testify. What Lin Fei said is true. I personally saw Zhu Dacheng take kickbacks from a client."

Zheng Qian bit her lip and stepped forward too.

"Mr. Cao, I can testify as well. Zhu Dacheng harasses female colleagues all the time. I'm one of his victims."

Zhu Dacheng's face instantly turned ugly.

"You two..."

"Young Master Cao, they're teaming up to frame me!"

Cao Rui shot Zhu Dacheng a cold look. Zhu Dacheng lowered his head in fright and didn't dare say another word.

Cao Rui leaned close to Lin Fei and spoke in a voice only the two of them could hear. "Lin Fei, you hate this Zhu Dacheng, don't you?"

"If you agree to do one thing for me, I can not only fire him, but give you his position."

Lin Fei looked at Cao Rui in confusion.

"What is it?"

"Stay away from Wu Yuqing. You're not good enough for her. She's my woman. Understand?"

Cao Rui's gaze was sharp, his words edged with menace.

Lin Fei couldn't help laughing.

"Heh. Since when did Yuqing become your woman? I remember her saying just yesterday that she didn't like you."

Lin Fei had no intention of pursuing Wu Yuqing, but Cao Rui's words still rubbed him the wrong way.

What did he mean, Lin Fei wasn't good enough for her?

Was Cao Rui good enough, then?

Cao Rui's superior tone and domineering attitude made Lin Fei sick.

Cao Rui's expression darkened. He hadn't expected Lin Fei to dare refuse him.

"She's not my woman now, but she will be."

"Don't push your luck. Believe me, one word from me and they'll carry you out of here today!"

Lin Fei's expression turned cold too. Cao Rui really thought he was an easy target.

"No wonder Wu Yuqing doesn't like you. Now I know why."

Cao Rui flew into a rage.

"My business with Wu Yuqing is none of yours. You have no right to comment."

Cao Rui took a few steps back and turned to his bodyguards.

"Teach this kid a lesson. I don't like him standing when he talks to me."

The two bodyguards immediately headed for Lin Fei.

They were nothing like the security guards. They'd received professional training and were strong, with formidable fighting skills.

"Kid, you brought this on yourself by offending Young Master Cao!"

Zhu Dacheng smirked to himself, as if he could already see Lin Fei lying on the ground, howling in pain.

Lin Fei's expression grew serious. His strength had increased considerably, but when it came to fighting, he was still an ordinary person.

Whoosh!

His opponent threw a punch at Lin Fei's face. Lin Fei quickly dodged to the side, then grabbed the man's arm with both hands.

Before the bodyguard could react, Lin Fei let out a shout and, like a radish yanked from dry earth, swung him bodily into the air.

Thud!

The bodyguard flew over Lin Fei's head and slammed hard into the floor.

The other bodyguard's face tightened in shock. He hadn't expected Lin Fei to be so strong.

Taking advantage of the opening, he kicked at Lin Fei's waist.

If that kick landed, he was certain Lin Fei would hit the floor in an instant and lose the ability to fight.

Lin Fei sensed the attack, but there was no time to dodge.

So he steeled himself and used the bodyguard in his hands as a weapon, swinging him at the man charging in with a kick.

Thud!

The bodyguard managed to kick Lin Fei in the waist, but he himself had no time to dodge and could only raise his arms to shield his face.

The two bodyguards crashed into each other with a heavy impact, then both hit the floor.

The kick sent Lin Fei stumbling back one step.

"The Body Strengthening Pill fortified my body. I took that kick and barely felt a thing."

The two bodyguards, however, were in bad shape. One was unconscious, and the other had been smashed badly enough to break bones. Neither could get back up.

Cao Rui was stunned. He'd never imagined his bodyguards would be so utterly useless.

Zhu Dacheng was pale with fright too, and quietly backed away a few steps.

Lin Fei looked up at Cao Rui, just about to teach him a lesson too.

Just then, Wu Yuqing appeared.

"Lin Fei, you've gone too far!"

"You made me wait downstairs for ages. Do you take me for a Didi driver?
