Ding Tiechui had struck without warning and gone straight for the kill. Lin Fei had still underestimated the Blood Wolf Gang's savagery.

Back on Earth, gangs were constrained by the law. At most, they beat people up; they wouldn't kill anyone lightly.

But in Nanli City, gangs like the Blood Wolf Gang killed people as casually as they killed chickens, with hardly a second thought.

That was why ordinary civilians feared the Blood Wolf Gang so much.

"What have you done to my wife?"

Lin Fei glared furiously at Ding Tiechui. That punch had left his chest aching and tight.

If he hadn't taken the Body Strengthening Pill, he might have had several more ribs broken.

Ding Tiechui glanced at the two men he'd brought with him and gave them a look.

"Don't just stand there. This guy pulled out a hundred gold notes at the drop of a hat. He's got to have plenty of wealth."

At that, the other two men also revealed greedy expressions.

Lin Fei staggered back two steps and crashed into a square table.

This man's strength was nowhere near Ding Tiechui's.

So although the punch hurt, Lin Fei could take it.

The man charged forward, intent on attacking Lin Fei again.

"Go to hell!"

Lin Fei grabbed the square table behind him and swung it at the man.

Thud!

The man crossed his arms over his head. The table smashed a gaping hole in them, breaking both his arms. He screamed and collapsed to the ground.

Ding Tiechui's expression changed at the sight.

He'd assumed Lin Fei was an ordinary man he could handle however he pleased.

He hadn't expected Lin Fei to injure both his companions with just two attacks.

"Brat, you dared hurt a member of the Blood Wolf Gang. You're dead!"

Ding Tiechui didn't stick around to fight Lin Fei. He turned and tried to run outside.

Whoosh!

A sharp whistle cut through the air, and something struck Ding Tiechui's calf like a bolt of lightning.

"Argh..."

Ding Tiechui screamed and fell to the ground.

A chopstick was stuck in his calf.

Lin Fei looked back and saw Xunmei standing not far away, her face covered.

She had been the one to shoot the chopstick.

Lin Fei was secretly astonished. To shoot a chopstick like an arrow—was this what a Qi Refining expert could do?

Xunmei flashed forward, rushing over in an instant.

She struck Ding Tiechui on the neck with her palm, knocking him unconscious.

Then Xunmei knocked out the other two as well.

"Lin Fei, I've subdued them for you. You'll have to handle the rest yourself."

Lin Fei hoisted Ding Tiechui onto his shoulder and stuffed him into the carriage he'd prepared in advance.

To eliminate any loose ends, Lin Fei put the other two men in the carriage as well and took them along.

Xunmei left on her own and took no further part in what followed.

The staff at Welcome Guest Restaurant immediately cleaned up the scene and wiped away all traces. The restaurant was one of the Li Family's properties.

Lin Fei had chosen this place after discussing it with Li Ruxue, so they could erase the evidence and keep the Blood Wolf Gang from tracking them down.

The carriage rolled along a street in South City, where the streets were bustling.

Though Nanli City had no curfew, people weren't allowed to leave the city at night.

So it was impossible to take Ding Tiechui and the other two out of the city.

The most urgent thing was to find a safe, secluded place to hide the three of them and interrogate them.

The South City Large Residence was full of people, with too many eyes and ears around. If the Blood Wolf Gang found out about it, many people might get dragged into this.

After all, Peach Blossom and the others had left the South City Large Residence before being snatched away halfway there.

Lin Fei drove the carriage into a dead-end alley. Then, inside the carriage, he summoned the Space Gate, dragged the still-unconscious Ding Tiechui and his two companions through it, and took them back to Earth.

That way, there was no chance the Blood Wolf Gang could find them.

Lin Fei used the ropes he'd prepared beforehand to tie all three of them up and gag them.

Then Lin Fei immediately returned to Nanli City.

He made a special trip to the Ding Family Smithy and bought an iron hammer.

Since he had changed his appearance with the Wish-Fulfilling Mask, Ding Tiechui's father didn't recognize him.

Carrying the hammer, Lin Fei went to the South City Large Residence.

He entered the residence's secret chamber alone and summoned the Space Gate again, dragging Ding Tiechui and the other two into the chamber.

That way, no one would know he'd brought three men into the residence.

The Millennium Cold Jade Bed made the secret chamber bitterly cold.

Before long, Ding Tiechui woke, shivering from the cold.

Lin Fei pulled the towel from his mouth and looked down at him coldly.

"Where is this?"

Ding Tiechui looked panicked. He struggled a few times, only to find his hands and feet bound tight. There was no way he could break free.

"What are you going to do?"

Lin Fei held an oil lamp in his left hand and an iron hammer in his right, looking down at him from above.

"What do you think I'm going to do? Isn't it obvious?"

"I bought this hammer from your family's smithy. Tell me what I want to know, or I'll let you find out whether your mouth is harder or this hammer is!"

Ding Tiechui shouted, trying to sound brave despite his fear. "You dare touch me, and your wife will die horribly!"

Lin Fei brought the hammer down on Ding Tiechui's knee. Pain made him howl like a slaughtered pig.

His screams woke his two companions.

"What happened?"

"Where are we?"

Lin Fei said coldly, "Good, you're awake. Where is my wife? Whoever tells me first will live."

Ding Tiechui's whole body convulsed with pain, but he still tried to stop the others from telling the truth.

"Don't tell him... If the gang leader's son finds out, he'll kill your whole families..."

The other two fell silent at his words.

Lin Fei didn't waste any time. He swung the hammer down again and smashed the kneecap of Ding Tiechui's other leg.

"Argh..."

Ding Tiechui screamed. His eyes bulged with fury, and his whole body trembled uncontrollably.

"Kill me... Just kill me..."

"You're not afraid of death? You're a real tough guy!"

Lin Fei's expression didn't change, though inside, he was suffering just as much.

Torturing someone like this wasn't what he wanted.

"You want to die? I won't let you!"

"Let's see if those two are as hard-boned as you."

Lin Fei swung the hammer and smashed it down on the knee of the other man.

The man's face turned purple with pain as he writhed on the ground.

Lin Fei looked at the last man. His face had gone pale, and a puddle of yellow liquid spread from his crotch.

"No... Please, don't. I'll tell you everything."

"Your wife was at the gambling house when our gang leader's son took a fancy to her, so he ordered Ding Tiechui to kidnap her."

"Is she still alive?" Lin Fei asked tensely.

Ding Tiechui seemed to have accepted his fate. To spare himself further torture, he spoke up too.

"She's dead... Your wife and her maid are both dead. Their bodies are buried in the Mass Grave outside the city."

Clang!

The iron hammer slipped from Lin Fei's hand and hit the floor. He stood as if struck by lightning.

"Dead... dead?"

In an instant, Lin Fei's eyes reddened, and pain surged through him like a tide.

"She was pregnant. She was about to give birth. Did you know that?"
