Something Was Wrong with the Prophecy. Qingwu: Were There Any Good People in the Ninja World?!
Huh?! Someone was here...
Just as Qingwu was studying the mural, a figure silently appeared behind him. With his divine sense, Qingwu noticed but said nothing, keeping his body poised to defend himself as he waited to see what the newcomer wanted.
"The Byakugan Princess?!"
It was a man with no eyes. He seemed to be sniffing with his nose, or perhaps using some special sensory ability.
"It is the Byakugan, yes, the Byakugan. Such potent bloodline power. Such a pure Byakugan."
"Are you the person my ancestor told me to wait for?!"
Although the Eyeless Man had no eyes, Qingwu could feel him staring at him, as though his gaze could pierce his skin and see the blood flowing inside him.
"Are you the Byakugan Princess?!"
In any case, Qingwu couldn't quite make sense of it. All he knew was that this Eyeless Man was after his... Byakugan.
Didn't this plot happen in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations? Why was it happening early? Wasn't he the soul body of someone from the slaughtered Main Family? In the story, didn't that conflict only arise after Kaguya was sealed?
Had something changed?! Qingwu frowned inwardly. He gave no answer, simply watching the Eyeless Man in silence, hoping to get more information out of him.
"No... that's not right." The Eyeless Man frowned, as though he had noticed something wrong.
"How is this possible?! You're here already? It's too early! How could you be so many years early?"
"The Byakugan Princess?! No, you're not."
"You're not... who are you, then?... Who?" the Eyeless Man shouted at Qingwu, growing agitated. Even his body began twisting and warping with his fluctuating emotions.
"Who exactly are you?! No... could you be... the Byakugan... you actually have the Byakugan... but that's impossible... it's too early... you're not... no... you are..."
The Eyeless Man seemed to descend into a frenzy, his thoughts trapped in an endless loop.
"No... you are... a pure Byakugan... that's even more impossible... the timing is wrong... something must have gone wrong... still wrong... aaah..."
The Eyeless Man muttered and roared, his face gradually contorting into a hideous grimace. His empty eye sockets looked even more eerie and horrifying.
Holy crap~ That gave me a fright! What was this, a horror story?
Qingwu grew even more wary. There was no telling what a madman might do—assuming this fellow even counted as human.
So damn mysterious. Who knew whether he had some kind of curse ability? This guy looked seriously sinister.
"Aaaah... why?!" the Eyeless Man howled in agony. His body flickered between intangible and solid, then twisted into a warped shape.
The whole sight looked as though it had been covered in a thick mosaic blur, making it impossible to distinguish reality from illusion. He kept switching between intangible, solid, and distorted forms, seemingly having lost control of his own body.
Holy shit~ What was with this look? Why was it so Lovecraftian? What the hell~ Was this really the world of Naruto?!
Qingwu was startled. Just what was this Eyeless Man? A soul body? Or a memory construct? Confident in his abilities, Qingwu asked him outright.
"I'm here too early?! I wasn't supposed to come at this time?! Did someone predict all this?! Who?!"
"A boy?!" This time, the Eyeless Man heard him clearly. His emotions surged even more violently, and his form became even more distorted.
"How could our ancestor's prophecy be wrong?"
"That's impossible."
"How could Ancestor Hamura be wrong?"
Now Qingwu understood. A prophecy left by Otsutsuki Hamura?! But that only raised even bigger questions.
The Eyeless Man.
Was this a contingency Otsutsuki Hamura had left behind?!
What had he foretold?!
This twisted memory construct, or whatever it was...
No matter how he looked at it, it didn't seem like...
The work of a decent person.
It was more like something a wizard from Western fantasy would do.
Cruel and bizarre.
"That is undoubtedly a pure Byakugan~"
The Eyeless Man calmed down as well, but his body grew even more insubstantial, as though he was about to exhaust his energy.
"Whoever you are, you possess a pure Byakugan, so you must be one of our clansmen... though the timing is wrong... the inheritance has already been activated... I can only entrust this to you..."
"The Ninja World... the moon..."
With that, he turned into a ball of light and rushed toward Qingwu.
"Stop~"
"Get in here~" A black hole flashed into existence and drew him into the Small World. Qingwu wasn't about to trust someone of unknown origins. Who knew whether there was something wrong with this thing? Better to be cautious.
"Hinata was fine after receiving the information in the movie, but I'm not about to put my safety in someone else's hands."
Being cautious wasn't being a coward.
Playing it safe meant living longer.
"All right, the 'divine self' has finished filtering it. Let me see..."
He finished reviewing the Eyeless Man's memories.
He saw the fierce conflict between the Lunar Ōtsutsuki Main Family and the branch family, as well as scenes from the prophecy: in the future, the branch family would sacrifice its entire clan to create the Giant Tenseigan and destroy the Main Family, winning a Pyrrhic victory.
Only Toneri and his father remained of the Otsutsuki lineage on the moon. In the prophetic scenes, his father constantly taught him, "The Ninja World is a cancer. It must be destroyed, and the ninja must be purged, so a new order can be created."
The father and son went to the Ninja World to see Toneri's bride.
"That is your future bride."
"Hinata, the Byakugan Princess."
"Your union will produce the finest offspring. Let your descendants rule the Ninja World. They are the world's rightful rulers."
In the vision, Toneri obediently agreed, looking forward to the day he grew up, married the Byakugan Princess, and ruled the Ninja World.
"Hmph~ Bastards, every last one of you. Coveting my wife? You've just given me a reason to kill you..."
Next came scenes of Otsutsuki Toneri obtaining the Tenseigan and driving the moon toward the Ninja World to destroy it. The prophetic vision ended...
"If I hadn't seen the movie, I'd have believed it."
After years of navigating the internet in his previous life, Qingwu could sense how carefully this had been engineered. "Something's wrong. Very wrong. These memories are guiding the person with a pure Byakugan—no, they're holding them hostage with the righteous cause of saving the world."
"To fight the Otsutsuki lineage on the moon."
"This is seriously wrong."
"What kind of ancestor wants his own descendants to fight each other to the death?"
"There's definitely something fishy here."
Then the scene changed, showing Hamura's spirit solemnly entrusting the Eyeless Man with a great responsibility—the duty of saving the world.
(Qingwu: What a hypocrite. He was only overlooked because of his congenital defect. Give him a little attention, and he'd be grateful.)
"I leave the great responsibility of saving the world to you, Wuyan. Of everyone in the clan, I trust you the most... you're a good boy..."
His ancestor's appearance in his dream left the Eyeless Man overwhelmed with excitement. He immediately agreed. "Yes, Ancestor. I will fulfill your wishes."
(Qingwu: The poor fool had been completely taken in.)
Then a beam of blue light struck.
That was the first time the Eyeless Man had ever seen light. Agonizing pain spread through his entire body. Afterward, he remained in the Otsutsuki clan grounds like an earthbound spirit.
Waiting for the person foretold in the legend to appear.
He didn't know how many years had passed. All he knew was that it had been a long, long time—so long that even his consciousness had begun to blur.
"Extracting and refining his soul~"
"How ruthless... what kind of ancestor treats his descendants like that?"
Qingwu felt a chill. As he spoke, a cold gleam flashed through his eyes. "Go to the Yellow Giant Tenseigan enshrined in the Temple and inherit the ancestor's chakra. Only then can you fight the new Tenseigan."
"Heh~ Interesting."
"An inheritance?! Or serving yourself up on a platter?!"
"Looks like this dear Ancestor Hamura of mine isn't so simple either."
"Then again."
"Were there any good people in the Ninja World?!"
