Yuhi Shinku's Way of Survival

Yuhi Shinku's words left Yuki Yuichi speechless.

Yuhi Kurenai stood to the side, blinking her big eyes as she watched the two of them.

She didn't really understand any of this, but she could tell that the Yuichi-kun she liked was no ordinary person.

As she thought about it, Yuhi Kurenai gently swung the hand she was holding with Yuki Yuichi. "Yuichi..."

Feeling the slight movement of Yuhi Kurenai's hand, Yuki Yuichi turned to look at her. "Don't worry about it, Kurenai!"

"Perhaps this is what you have to bear if you want to become the God of Shinobi."

Yuhi Shinku: "**#*#*###***"

Had he said anything about Yuichi having to bear something?

Yuhi Shinku wanted to curse, but it didn't feel right, so he forcibly held it back.

"All right, I've told you everything I needed to."

"Next..."

Before Yuhi Shinku could finish, Yuki Yuichi interrupted him and pointed at himself. "Uncle Shinku, I have Uzumaki Bloodline?"

At Yuki Yuichi's gesture, Yuhi Shinku's heart skipped a beat. He didn't know why Yuichi was asking, but from what he knew of the boy, there was no way it was that simple.

Sure enough, Yuki Yuichi's next words immediately reached his ears.

"I can feel the abilities of the Uzumaki Bloodline, but I heard the Uchiha have Red Eye disease. Why don't I?"

Hearing Yuki Yuichi's words, Yuhi Shinku let out a sigh of relief, but then immediately corrected him. "That's the Sharingan, not Red Eye disease!"

"Your Sharingan will awaken eventually. As long as you behave and don't get up to mischief, you'll awaken it."

"Really?" Yuki Yuichi looked doubtful. "I don't believe you."

"I'm a Konoha jonin. Why would I lie to a Ninja Student like you?"

Yuhi Shinku pointed at himself, then at Yuki Yuichi, but soon turned serious and looked at him with a solemn expression. "But I hope you never awaken it in your life."

He was a Konoha jonin and had Uchiha comrades, so he naturally knew what it took for the Uchiha to awaken their Sharingan.

It was a Kekkei Genkai that could only be awakened by losing loved ones and comrades.

If he could, he truly hoped Yuki Yuichi would never awaken his Sharingan. That would mean he wouldn't have to endure such pain.

Some people in the upper ranks said the Uchiha were a naturally evil clan.

But in Yuhi Shinku's eyes, the Uchiha were actually quite reliable.

Especially as comrades.

They were strong, and although they could be a little cold or arrogant, they were actually easy to get along with.

Most importantly, once they accepted you, they treated you with genuine sincerity. And if you died, they'd awaken their Sharingan, grow even stronger, and avenge you.

What great teammates.

Of course, that was assuming you didn't run into some lunatic who, in order to awaken his Sharingan, stabbed himself while tears streamed down his face.

He'd seen all this in Yuki Yuichi's mother. After all, he and Yuichi's parents had once been on the same team.

As Yuhi Shinku reminisced, Yuki Yuichi rubbed his chin and asked thoughtfully, "I have Uchiha blood. Won't they care?"

Yuki Yuichi's question made Yuhi Shinku laugh.

"You little brat, why would they care about you?"

"Wouldn't they stop their bloodline from spreading outside the clan?" Yuki Yuichi asked, confused.

He'd pretended to be curious about the Sharingan earlier, but this was something he genuinely didn't understand.

"They're the Uchiha, not the Hyuga."

"The Uchiha Clan has always been allowed to marry outside the clan. There are plenty of people like you."

"It's just that you're a little more special. You have Uzumaki Bloodline on top of that. As long as you don't go knocking on their door and begging them to take you in, they won't care about you."

As he spoke, Yuhi Shinku looked at Yuki Yuichi and smiled.

He was genuinely quite fond of Yuki Yuichi. Their constant bickering was just one way of showing their affection for each other.

Although he didn't like that the boy had his eye on his daughter, he still trusted Yuki Yuichi to look after Yuhi Kurenai.

Hearing Yuhi Shinku's words, Yuki Yuichi felt as though his ancient memories had suddenly awakened. He recalled that the original story seemed to have said something like this.

It hadn't been stated outright, but there was Uchiha Izumi, who was suspected to be Uchiha Itachi's girlfriend.

Uchiha Izumi's mother had married her father, who wasn't from the Uchiha Clan, and moved out of the clan.

But after Uchiha Izumi's father died unexpectedly, her mother took her back to the Uchiha Clan and changed her name to Uchiha Izumi.

Looking at Yuki Yuichi, Yuhi Shinku asked, "Any other questions?"

"That's all." Yuki Yuichi shook his head. He'd learned some truly incredible information today.

He'd been wondering how he would explain it if he earned a Uchiha template as a reward someday.

Now it seemed he wouldn't need to explain anything.

I'm a prodigy. So what if I awaken a Sharingan!

Yuki Yuichi thought to himself. Though he acted like a child in many ways, he hadn't forgotten that he was an adult.

After spending so much time around children his own age, he'd started acting a little childish himself. But couldn't that just be part of his disguise?

When Yuki Yuichi said he had no more questions, Yuhi Shinku cleared his throat and said, "You two started school today, so you won't be able to take it easy anymore."

As he spoke, Yuhi Shinku put on a stern expression and looked at them both.

Seeing her father like that, Yuhi Kurenai nervously pressed her lips together. She'd never seen her father act that way around her before.

Yuki Yuichi wasn't bothered. He was already used to seeing Yuhi Shinku make that face.

Ever since he'd gotten close to Yuhi Kurenai, if he ever didn't see Yuhi Shinku looking like that, there was no need to wonder—someone else had definitely impersonated him. He could go straight to the Hokage Building and report it.

Seeing that his expression hadn't scared Yuki Yuichi, but had made his own daughter nervous instead, Yuhi Shinku was speechless. He dropped the stern act and relaxed.

"The first-year curriculum at the Ninja Academy covers chakra control and reading and writing."

"You two already know all that, so to avoid wasting the year, starting tomorrow, you'll come straight back after school in the afternoon. I'll personally teach you both genjutsu."

"I'm Konoha's genjutsu master!"

Yuhi Shinku looked rather pleased with himself. Earning the title of genjutsu master in Konoha, home to the Uchiha Clan, was proof enough of his strength and skill with genjutsu.

Seeing how pleased he looked, Yuki Yuichi hesitated for a moment, then muttered under his breath, "Do we really have to learn?"

"Hmm? What did you say?"

Yuhi Shinku narrowed his eyes.

"I said, having a powerful ninja like you, Uncle Shinku, teach us is an opportunity most people couldn't hope for in eight lifetimes!" Seeing Yuhi Shinku's expression darken, Yuki Yuichi immediately changed his tune.

"That's more like it!"
