Desolate Region.
Western Frontier.
A group of people traveled through the vast Great Wilderness.
At their head was a breathtakingly beautiful young woman, graceful and otherworldly, as if she had descended from the heavens. She looked about sixteen, with a porcelain-pale face, lively eyes, and a slender figure. Her white robes snapped in the mountain wind as though she might ride it away.
Beside the woman walked an old woman and more than a dozen strong, young warriors. Every one of them looked exceptional.
"The Wind Clan is just ahead."
The old woman spoke, her deep eyes glimmering as she looked toward the faintly visible cluster of buildings. "Although this branch of the Wind Clan is only a branch of a branch, and has long since declined, the Wind Clan is one of humanity's most ancient clans. Perhaps an outstanding prodigy will be born among them in this generation."
They came from Heaven Mending Pavilion. They traveled through the boundless Great Wilderness, searching for gifted talents to bring into the pavilion, where they would teach them Treasure Arts and guide their cultivation.
"The Wind, Rain, Thunder, and Lightning Clans are among humanity's most ancient clans. Their ancestors all gave birth to Gods, and the Wind Clan ranks first among the four."
The beautiful girl spoke, her voice clear and sweet. Her lively eyes shone like bright stars. She continued, "What's more, it's said that the Wind Clan has a special connection to an ancient emperor of humanity."
"An ancient emperor?"
A young disciple beside her looked astonished, his eyes filled with reverence.
The ancient emperors were beyond comparison with the current human emperors of the various kingdoms. They were mighty beings whom even the Gods treated with respect.
The Wind Clan.
The Wind Clan was a tribe of more than five hundred thousand people. Though it was not particularly large, it was filled with experts, and even had a Marquis-level powerhouse guarding it, renowned throughout this vast territory.
At that moment, in a mountain range within the Wind Clan's territory,
a furious waterfall plunged down, surging like a mountain flood and crashing from above with a thunderous roar.
Beneath the raging falls sat a slight figure, seemingly about ten years old. He had delicate features and a sturdy build, and sat cross-legged on a smooth boulder as the crashing water washed over him.
The waterfall was ferocious, and it plunged from several thousand meters above. The force of its impact was at least seventy or eighty thousand jin. Even thick steel plates would twist and deform beneath it.
Yet the slight boy sat there as steady as a rock, unmoved.
The boy was named Su Ye, the Wind Clan's greatest prodigy. He drew in the essence of heaven and earth, his whole body wreathed in radiance. Auspicious Mist billowed around him, and his skin gleamed like the finest jade beneath the water.
Hum.
Light spread, and Daoist charm swirled. One after another, illusory figures appeared around the boy: Suanni, Yazi, Bian, and other powerful Fierce Beasts. They radiated such ferocious might that the heavens roared and the mountains and rivers trembled.
Su Ye's blood and qi surged within him, and Daoist music thundered as if the Gods were chanting for him. Majestic and sacred, it drove his physical body through an extreme transformation.
Boom.
Thunder rumbled inside him. Blinding rays burst from his body one after another, as if he were about to explode on the spot.
Of course, he didn't explode.
The hazy radiance grew denser. The spiritual energy of heaven and earth rushed toward him in a frenzy, pouring into his body. His skin became even more translucent, and a faint, delicate fragrance rose from him.
Su Ye opened his eyes. They were extraordinarily bright, and mysterious, profound runes appeared within them.
Hum.
The heavens rumbled once more. Two enormous pupils appeared in the sky, each like a blazing sun, brilliant and profound. They resonated with heaven and earth, seizing the Creation of the world.
Strands of Divine Radiance descended from the sky, each containing abundant Divine Essence. They flowed into Su Ye and washed over him, making his skin more translucent. His bones crackled like popping beans as the Divine Radiance entered every limb and bone, tempering his body without end.
Su Ye looked at his arm. A hazy glow covered it, keeping the torrent crashing down from above at bay. This was a protective radiance born only when the body broke through to the limit of one hundred thousand jin.
The ten-thousand-jin extreme, the perfection of the Blood-Moving Realm.
Since ancient times, only the cubs of Heavenly-Rank Primordial Fierce Beasts and special creatures had ever reached this realm. Now, Su Ye had done it.
"The ten-thousand-jin extreme. Perfection of the Blood-Moving Realm."
A brilliant smile spread across Su Ye's still-youthful face.
His eyes were bright and sharp, as though they held an entire world. Mysterious symbols appeared within them, radiance swirling like the opening of a new world.
"Ten years of hard cultivation, day in and day out. At last, I've reaped what I sowed."
Su Ye's heart surged, his blood boiling. Even without a system cheat, he could still defy the heavens and rise through his own strength.
By now, you've probably guessed.
That's right.
He, Su Ye, was a transmigrator. He'd been fortunate enough to board the transmigration express and arrive in Perfect World, becoming one of the countless beings striving for supremacy in this great, primordial world.
Su Ye gazed into the distance, toward the magnificent mountains and rivers. The fierce, domineering aura he'd carried moments ago was gone; instead, he wore a melancholy far beyond his years.
Ten years.
He'd been in this world for ten years.
Memories of those ten years came to Su Ye's mind. A hint of melancholy crept onto his youthful face. He reached out, but grasped nothing, then let his hand fall helplessly and looked up at the sky.
Ten years.
Did you know how he'd made it through those ten years?
No game console.
No phone.
No computer.
This tedious life was enough to make every day feel like a year.
When he'd first arrived in this world, he'd been thrilled. After more than a dozen miserable years, he thought he'd finally been given a new life. But reality soon slapped him hard across the face, waking him from his impractical fantasies.
He'd transmigrated, sure, but there was no system, no old master living inside a trinket, no fairy bride, and no heaven-defying cheat. Worse, he'd arrived in this world as a baby.
Being a baby was no problem, but he'd been an orphan. That was just cruel.
A newborn baby in a terrifying world crawling with Fierce Beasts—did the heavens really think he wasn't doomed enough?
Still, he'd managed to survive.
Perfect World was a cultivation world where one could gain immortality and wield powerful, mysterious forces. But it was also a brutal, bloody place.
The vast Great Wilderness teemed with terrifying Fierce Beasts. They were vicious and bloodthirsty, but they tasted great. Their meat was tender, bursting with rich fragrance in every bite. No seasoning was needed; just sprinkle on a little salt and the flavor would make your taste buds explode.
I'm not showing off. I'm lamenting my hardships, telling you how rough these past ten years have been.
In a world without cars, the only way to travel was to ride those magnificent Fierce Beasts and raptors.
In a world without industrial pollution, the only water to drink was pure, natural water.
In a world without chemical additives, all you could eat was natural food with no preservatives.
This kind of life...
"Brother Ye, I knew you'd be here. Important guests have come to our tribe, and the clan leader told me to fetch you."
An urgent voice came from the forest in the distance. Then a figure bounded across several thousand meters in just a few leaps, arriving before the waterfall.
"Important guests?"
Su Ye looked at the newcomer, who was tall and broad, half a head taller than him—about five foot six. He wore animal hide, his skin was bronze, and muscles bulged across his body, brimming with explosive power.
This somewhat simple-minded boy was Su Ye's childhood companion. A year older than him, he was now eleven and was named A-Hu.
A-Hu said honestly, "The clan leader said they're important guests. I think they're from some kind of pavilion... Right, Heaven Mending Pavilion. They're important guests from Heaven Mending Pavilion, and they want to see how strong the young disciples in our tribe are. If we're strong enough, we can join the pavilion."
"Heaven Mending Pavilion?"
Su Ye's expression shifted. Then delight spread across his face. He hadn't expected Heaven Mending Pavilion to come to the Wind Clan. It seemed this hidden dragon of his was about to emerge from its abyss.
"With Brother Ye's strength, you'll definitely get into Heaven Mending Pavilion. I hear it's an ancient sacred ground renowned throughout the Great Wilderness. Anyone who graduates from there can reach at least the rank of Marquis."
A-Hu spoke excitedly. Brother Ye was the Wind Clan's greatest prodigy. He'd once subdued a powerful Primordial Remnant cub all by himself, so joining Heaven Mending Pavilion would be a sure thing.
Su Ye remained calm. He didn't care about becoming a Marquis or a King. Those were only his starting points, not his destination.
Because his life had no destination—only a starting point.
