Clang.
Bang.
Clang.
Su Ye dug and hammered away with the golden cudgel in his hands. The earth here had been soaked in divine blood. Even after endless ages, it still contained Dao Patterns and remained incredibly solid, causing extensive wear to the Ruyi Golden Cudgel.
Of course, it wasn't the Bronze Pillar wrapped inside that had broken. It was the outer shell Su Ye had forged from precious metals.
The shell was made from Purple Gold Meteorite, an extremely precious and sturdy material—the finest choice for forging Marquis Level Magic Treasures. Runes had even been engraved upon it, yet it had still been damaged.
"Are you sure it's here?"
Su Ye sent his thoughts to the God Emperor. He had just used his Samsara Eye to look below, but all he could see was surging Auspicious Mist, containing a powerful force. That was all.
"I don't know."
The God Emperor said, "Saint Herbs all have spirits and can fly through the sky and burrow beneath the earth. A Divine Medicine is even more extraordinary. Of course, what's here is only a piece of root, not a true Divine Medicine. Even if it has a spirit, it probably can't simply escape. Otherwise, it would have fled at the first opportunity."
Su Ye thought that made sense, then kept digging. With one hand, he could exert a hundred thousand pounds of force. Combined with the mighty Ruyi Golden Cudgel, he soon dug out a huge passage.
Bang.
The Ruyi Golden Cudgel unleashed its tremendous power and smashed straight through the rocky barrier below. In an instant, Auspicious Mist gushed out, radiance blazed in all directions, and a terrifying torrent of energy burst forth.
Hum.
The void rippled as a crystalline root, smooth as jade, broke free of the torrent of energy, seemingly about to merge into the void.
"Trying to run? I've been working my butt off digging here all this time. If I let you get away now, wouldn't all my effort have been for nothing?"
Runes swirled in Su Ye's eyes as he urged his Samsara Eye to its full power. Misty Haze spread through the air, and lines of Dao Patterns appeared in the void, pinning it in place.
Hum.
Sensing danger, the white-jade root trembled. Auspicious Mist billowed around it as an intense fragrance filled the air. In an instant, the cramped underground cavern was flooded with divine radiance, as if it had become an immortal realm.
Su Ye caught the rich fragrance, and his mind went hazy. He seemed on the verge of ascending to immortality, becoming the Supreme Being of heaven and earth, ruling over the cosmos as all the celestial immortals bowed at his feet.
Hee-hee...
Suddenly, a bell-like laugh rang beside Su Ye's ear. The sweet, melodious sound made him feel even more at ease. In that dreamlike vision, the most beautiful immortal maiden in the world nestled in his arms, and then...
Boom.
Power erupted from within Su Ye, and he threw a punch at the rock beside him.
"Ow!"
Su Ye bared his teeth in pain. The rocks here had all been bathed in divine blood and were incredibly hard. Even hard Divine Gold had been damaged. His punch struck the rock like an egg hitting a stone, nearly shattering his fist.
Auspicious Mist swirled, and Divine Radiance encircled him.
Su Ye studied the jade-like root, his expression grave. Though he didn't know what had happened just now, he had felt a deadly danger in that moment.
"Don't let it bewitch you. It's only a small piece of root, but it came from the Little Dream God Lotus and contains its power. It can draw people into a dream without them even realizing it.
"Dream and reality blur together, reality and dream become one. In ancient times, the Great Dream God Sect used the Great Dream Divine Art they had comprehended from the Little Dream God Lotus to silently bring down a powerful True God."
The God Emperor explained. With his power, he could have easily suppressed it, but his strength was trapped inside the Totem Pillar. Unless Su Ye drew his power out, he couldn't affect the outside world.
Hee-hee...
The laughter rang out once again.
Specks of radiance drifted through the air. Amid the shimmering light, indistinct, graceful figures seemed to appear. Look closely, and there was nothing there. But whenever Su Ye let his guard down, a dozen figures would emerge, each as beautiful as a celestial maiden, with graceful curves and radiant light swirling around them. They swayed their slender waists, moving with elegant, irresistibly seductive grace.
Su Ye shook his head, and the scene vanished again. Nothing remained. The root still floated there, surrounded by dense radiance, while a gurgling sound rose from below. The treasure liquid sealed beneath the earth was steadily bubbling out.
"It's just a small piece of root. How can it be so strange?"
Su Ye forced himself to calm down. He didn't rush to grab the root.
As for having the God Emperor fetch it?
He hadn't even considered it. To draw out the God Emperor's power, he would have to believe in him and provide him with the power of faith. That was simply impossible.
Although he now carried the God Emperor with him, that didn't mean he trusted him. Those old monsters who had survived since ancient times were never simple. If he truly believed one of them, he wouldn't even know how he'd died.
"The Little Dream God Lotus. 'Dream' means its attacks are spiritual. My cultivation may be weak, but my spirit is strong, and I have the Heavenly Eye. If I focus, I can resist the power it releases. But the moment my mind wavers, it'll exploit the opening. And the closer I get, the stronger its spiritual attacks become. Once I'm too close, even concentrating won't be enough to resist."
Su Ye analyzed the situation. As things stood, he could only look at it, not touch it. Wasn't that just torture?
The laughter sounded again, and the scene before him changed. Amid the Light Rain, graceful figures emerged, with willowy bodies and skin as fair as white jade. Dressed daringly, they took elegant lotus steps toward Su Ye and danced beside him.
Their slender waists swayed, their figures undulated, and their seductive eyes seemed to steal the soul.
The sight dazzled Su Ye, but he paid no attention to their dancing or to their delicate hands roaming over his body. Instead, he wondered: he hadn't let his mind wander just now, so why had he fallen into the dream again?
"Hey, stop swaying around. You're making me dizzy. Is this all you can do?"
Su Ye said impatiently. More and more runes appeared in his eyes, which gleamed with increasing brilliance. Under his gaze, the immortal maidens all vanished, leaving only a jade-like root floating there, swaying back and forth.
Clearly, everything he'd just seen had been an illusion. The maidens hadn't been swaying at all. The Little Dream God Lotus's root had.
The Little Dream God Lotus's root stopped swaying, and the power it had been releasing began to withdraw.
Su Ye felt the invisible spiritual force around him steadily weaken. He felt much better without that oppressive weight bearing down on him. Looking at the root, he nodded with satisfaction. "As expected of a Divine Medicine. Even with only a piece of root left, it still has intelligence."
"It's not that the Divine Medicine is extraordinary. My power is primarily spiritual, so even a single piece of root still possesses a sufficiently powerful spiritual consciousness."
A pleasant voice rang beside Su Ye's ear, sweet as a silver bell.
