155. Tony's Victory
Tony Stark said, gesturing for Jarvis to turn on the TV.
The program showed Pepper Potts holding a press conference.
When Obadiah Stane heard Pepper Potts announce the news to the reporters, his face twitched slightly, barely able to contain his smugness.
Haha, God is really blessing me.
Tony Stark was panting, and even the machine displaying his heart rate began to beat abnormally.
He pointed with difficulty to the folder on the bedside table and said, "This is the share transfer agreement. I've already signed it and had it certified by a lawyer. Uncle Obadiah Stane only needs to sign it to get a portion of my shares."
Upon hearing this, Obadiah Stane's pupils contracted to a single point.
He trembled as he took the document, casually flipped through the key clauses and signatures, and finally confirmed that what Tony Stark had said was true.
Obadiah Stane looked at the document in his hand, tears slowly streaming down his face.
This time, he was truly moved.
Tony Stark, what a good man, such a good man.
You've been so good to me, how could I possibly bear to kill you again!
With his dream now realized, Obadiah Stane could no longer contain his excitement, and a barely perceptible, sinister smile crept across his face.
He suppressed his excitement, his eyes filled with tears as he tightly gripped Tony Stark's hands, seemingly too overwhelmed to speak.
Obadiah Stane was indeed very excited, and dared not speak.
He was afraid that if he opened his mouth, he would burst out laughing.
Happiness came too suddenly, so suddenly that there was no warning at all!
Tony Stark was disgusted by Obadiah Stane's behavior, but in order to get Obadiah Stane to take the bait, he had to suppress his disgust.
He closed his eyes slightly, trying not to show his emotions, and said weakly, "If I sign this agreement, Uncle Obadiah Stane will get some of the stocks I own, as long as he helps me fulfill my last wish."
I suspect someone in the company betrayed me, otherwise...
As Tony Stark finished speaking, an alarm sounded from the electrocardiogram monitor not far away.
Obadiah Stane's eyes narrowed slightly, a sinister glint flashing within them.
Someone betrayed you.
Ha, you're not wrong this time.
No wonder Tony Stark hasn't seen anyone since he came back; he'd already sensed something was wrong.
But where did Tony Stark get this information that led him to suspect someone had betrayed him?
Oh well, even if he finds out, what can he do? He'd never dream that the person who betrayed him was me, his dear Uncle Obadiah Stane.
Obadiah Stane nearly driven to madness, finally unable to contain his long-suppressed anger and discontent.
He locked the door from the inside, and when he turned back, his face was no longer warm; only indifference and hatred remained.
Tony Stark seemed to sense something was wrong and looked at him hesitantly.
"You."
Obadiah Stane coldly replied, "Yes, it was me. I betrayed you, and I was the one who had the terrorists kill you."
"If those bastards hadn't been so greedy, you'd be dead by now. But it's alright, it's good this way."
Obadiah Stane then chuckled dismissively, "If you die, it will be much more difficult for me to acquire the Stark Industries stock you hold."
Tony Stark sneered inwardly, completely relieved.
These words were enough to ensure that Obadiah Stane would never be able to recover.
Seeing Obadiah Stane's confident demeanor, Tony Stark suddenly felt a surge of urge to play along with him.
He feigned shock, his eyes widening, breathing rapidly, and pointing tremblingly at Obadiah Stane, as if speechless due to the immense shock.
Obadiah Stane was very satisfied with Tony Stark's performance, feeling as refreshed as if he had drunk two ice-cold beers on a Great Xia.
His face gradually contorted, the previous affection between uncle and son vanished, and he made no attempt to conceal his disgust and hatred for Tony Stark.
Obadiah Stane sat on the edge of the bed, staring intently at Tony Stark, who was glaring at him with bloodshot eyes but powerless to do anything to him. As if venting years of hatred, he said coldly, "Do you know that my hatred for you is like the darkness of New York, a darkness that can never be cleared away?"
Who do you think you are? Who do you think you are, Tony Stark?!
If it weren't for me, if it weren't for Obadiah Stane, Stark Industries wouldn't be where it is today.
But why, why does everyone only see you, Tony Stark? Why does everyone only see you, this good-for-nothing playboy?
I, Obadiah Stane the Stark Industries, gave my all of my youth. And now you're taking away all the glory and honor that should have been mine, the glory that belonged to me."
As Obadiah Stane spoke, he nearly roared, his face contorted in a ferocious and terrifying manner.
He gripped Tony Stark's shirt tightly, his forehead veins throbbing with an indescribable ferocity.
Looking at Obadiah Stane's crazed state and listening to his resentful words that seemed to want to grind him to dust, Tony Stark suddenly felt disheartened and lost interest in playing with Obadiah Stane.
He stared calmly at Obadiah Stane and said indifferently, "This is why you betrayed me. You think I stole your glory, your Stark Industries."
Obadiah Stane, noticing Tony Stark's calm expression, narrowed his eyes and immediately sensed something was amiss.
A ruthless glint flashed in his eyes, and he reached out to smother Tony Stark to death.
The share transfer documents are in hand. Once I sign them, no one can stop me from becoming the head of Stark Industries. And with Pepper Potts's press conference, even if someone suspects there's something fishy about Stark's death, they certainly won't suspect me.
He had barely begun his move when Tony Stark made his.
His right hand, concealing a stun gun, touched Obadiah Stane's body, which was inches away, crackling with electricity.
Under the powerful electric current, Obadiah Stane's body stiffened and became numb, trembling involuntarily. He collapsed to the ground, looking at Tony Stark with shock, anger, and fear, his lips trembling as he couldn't utter a word.
He was prepared; this was a trap!
Leona watched the spectacle unfold with amusement, chuckling, "Tsk tsk, what an interesting show. What's this called again? The villain dies from talking too much?"
Gu Santong laughed and said, "This isn't called the villain dying from talking too much; this is called the victory of the cunning old fox."
Tony Stark is such a cunning guy. Poor Obadiah Stane was completely blinded by the huge benefits Tony Stark offered, and then Tony Stark deliberately pointed out that someone had betrayed him, which further spurred him to his senses.
Otherwise, given the old man's behavior, he wouldn't have lost his mind at the end.
But Tony Stark is really cunning; he's been hiding something all along. I thought it was medical equipment, but it turns out it's a weapon."
Yan Lingji scoffed, "I'm more Obadiah Stane's feelings right now."
Gu Santong: "Do you even need to ask? It must have been as thrilling as a roller coaster ride. You were about to succeed, but then you became a pawn on someone else's chessboard."
I reckon that's exactly how Obadiah Stane felt.
Obadiah Stane: No, this can't be, it must be fake. He was on guard, this is a trap, I'm going to die, I'm going to die.
As Gu Santong spoke, he also made corresponding facial expressions and gestures.
Everyone who saw this couldn't help but smile.
They're already in a terrible situation, is it really okay for you to make fun of them like that?
Tony Stark's lips twitched slightly; he wanted to laugh, but was also somewhat speechless.
These guys can watch the show, fine, but couldn't they at least say less? They should at least consider the people directly involved!
After a brief period of numbness from clicking, Obadiah Stane finally recovered a little.
Although his body was still unable to move, he was able to make subtle facial expressions.
Obadiah Stane glared at Tony Stark with resentment, his voice trembling as he said, "You, you were clearly very weak just now, that couldn't have been fake."
Obadiah Stane trusted his judgment; if Tony Stark's previous weakness was feigned, it couldn't have been done so convincingly.
Tony Stark sneered, "I haven't eaten all day, of course I'm weak. But even though I'm starving, the effects are obvious, aren't they?"
Obadiah Stane's eyes widened.
Is this even allowed?
He then seemed to realize something, and gritted his teeth, saying, "Then what about Pepper Potts's press conference, and these share transfer documents? I've been having Pepper Potts's actions monitored, and I know she did hold a press conference, and I also know it was all at your behest."
Tony Stark felt a chill in his heart, secretly glad that he hadn't told Pepper Potts the whole plan.
He scoffed, "Are you really that stupid? Doesn't it say here that the shares will only be yours after I die? I'm not even dead yet, so there's nothing for you. And now, I think you've already missed your chance to enjoy them."
Obadiah Stane was stunned.
Damn it, does that mean this bastard was just messing with me from the very beginning?
Obadiah Stane felt resentful, and also ashamed of being tricked.
He retorted angrily, "But you clearly sold some Stark Industries stock a while ago, and there's data on this instrument, why?"
Tony Stark shook his head slightly, disappointed. "You forgot, instrument data is the easiest to falsify. As for the stocks sold recently, that was obviously just for show."
Tony Stark's eyes flickered as he said this.
His sale of shares was not merely a show for Obadiah Stane, but rather part of a larger, longer-term plan.
Tony Stark has decided to permanently shut down Stark's weapons division, and this news will inevitably deal a major blow to the defense industry Stark Industries. Tony Stark knows perfectly well that Stark Industries ' stock will crash like crazy.
If Stark Industries ' stock crashes, Tony Stark will be able to buy shares at a much lower price than before, thereby strengthening his control over Stark Industries.
Tony Stark didn't care at all about the stocks that crashed.
He believed that as long as he was there, Stark Industries would not fall.
Temporary setbacks are merely the prelude to a greater leap forward.
It can be said that Tony Stark had already planned everything from the very beginning. Whether it was Obadiah Stane or the shareholders of Stark Industries, they were all pawns in his game.
Of course, Tony Stark wouldn't tell anyone about this unethical plan.
Especially the kind of thing where they deliberately crash Stark Industries ' stock and then acquire it at a low price.
After a brief silence, Tony Stark Enlightenment, "Oh right, I forgot to tell you, the footage here will be simultaneously broadcast to the press conference."
Upon hearing this, Obadiah Stane's face turned deathly pale.
He stood frozen on the ground, utterly dejected, his heart filled with despair.
It's over.
Everything is over.
