"Enemy attack!"
"Obito, get Rin out of here!"
The sudden attack put Kakashi and the others on high alert. Rin had only just woken up and hadn't recovered her strength. She'd also gone a long time without nourishment, so neither her strength nor her reflexes were anywhere near enough to handle the sudden danger.
At Kakashi's signal, Obito immediately carried Rin and darted into the woods, trying to get away as quickly as possible.
But two streaks of white light soon skimmed over Obito's scalp. The Mist Ninja had surrounded them before launching their attack!
With his Sharingan active, Obito could clearly see the incoming attack. He barely managed to dodge, but the Mist Ninja forced him and Rin back toward Kakashi.
"What is it, Obito?"
Feeling Obito suddenly return, Kakashi asked in confusion, unsure what had happened.
"We can't get away! We're surrounded!"
Tomoe spun in Obito Uchiha's eyes. Even with the dense forest in the way, he could see the Mist Ninja hidden in the shadows. There were more than twenty enemies, all of them masked.
"There are twenty-four of them, all wearing masks. They're Mist Ninja Anbu!"
"The ones pursuing us are elite Mist Ninja!"
Obito Uchiha's expression turned grave. He glanced down at Rin, his eyes filled with worry. More than his own safety, Obito was concerned about Rin.
"Obito, put me down."
"I'm not some helpless girl."
Rin, in Obito's arms, patted him as she spoke. Obito tightened his grip instead, refusing to put her down.
"They're coming!" While the two of them hesitated, Kakashi barked a warning, lightning quickly gathering in his hand.
"Hidden Mist Technique!"
Thick white fog rolled in from every direction, quickly blocking their vision. It was already the dead of night, so visibility had been poor to begin with. With
