Nawaki heard the door open and instantly grew alert, rising from his stool. He had also seen the two giant beasts and the terrifying giant outside Konoha. Many critically ill patients in the hospital couldn't be moved, so, under Jiuming's orders, the Jonin and Chunin had formed a defensive line.
Since he hadn't been evacuated, Nawaki stayed by his wife and child.

The door opened, and a pretty young nurse walked in carrying a stainless-steel tray. Several bags of some kind of fluid sat on it.
"Change my dressing?"
Nawaki raised an eyebrow and hurled the Kunai in his hand at the nurse as his hands swiftly formed Hand Seals. From just those few words, he had already judged her to be an enemy. He always changed the medicine in this room himself!
"Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!" Three Kunai pierced the nurse in an instant, but the expected spray of blood never came. The nurse snapped her head up, revealing a hideous face—it was the White Zetsu who had attacked Nawaki earlier.
White Zetsu stopped hiding his identity and thrust both hands toward Xiangxiangli on the hospital bed. Two wooden spikes shot straight at her, moving so fast that Nawaki couldn't finish his Hand Seals. He had no choice but to scoop up Xiangxiangli and Karin and dodge the attack.
"Clang! Clang!" The two wooden spikes pierced the bed frame, their tips sinking into the floor.
"Heh heh!" White Zetsu let out a sinister chuckle. Without forming any Hand Seals, he made the two spikes he'd just launched grow rapidly, sending them straight toward Nawaki and his family.
"Wood Release?! He can use Wood Release!"
