Hatake Saku broke free of Uchiha Setsuna's support and sneered at the newcomer:
"So you're Shamon? Turning your own subordinates into puppets—that's something only a savage village like Sunagakure could manage."
Shamon, who controlled eighteen elite jonin puppets, was unfazed by the remark. The two surviving jonin beside him, however, trembled with fear.
When it became clear that his opponent had no intention of responding, Hatake Saku continued to taunt him:
"Heh, you're hunting us to keep the truth from getting out—that Sunagakure plans to replace the daimyo, right?"
"Hahahaha! We've already sent the information back using a summon. Everything you've done is bound to be for nothing!"
Shamon's mouth twitched.
The whole point of this pursuit was to prevent the information from leaking.
But his opponent was probably telling the truth. Did that mean his mission had already failed?
A fierce glint flashed in his eyes.
The Kazekage had been constantly suppressing the Sand Manipulation Secret Technique faction lately. If this mission failed too, Shamon might be reduced to a nobody on the fringes of the village.
The angrier he grew, the fiercer his expression became. He looked at the three of them and grinned viciously.
"Heh heh heh. In that case, the cat-and-mouse game is over. The three of you can become my puppets!"
As he spoke, he sent all eighteen elite jonin puppets charging at them!
The three of them sucked in a breath and braced themselves, taking on the puppets despite the odds.
Hatake Saku's Lightning Release and long sword were somewhat effective against puppets, so a full eleven of them attacked him!
