The golden light was Dasheng's secondary system. Dasheng hadn't been brought along this time; Huang Wuye had left him at Wuye Residence to continue cultivating.
"Boss, the mission briefing came through."
"Oh? Read it to me."
"Greetings, Prince Wu Ye! According to our statistics, Giant Wood Planet is home to thirteen thousand native species. Among this great variety, there are always some vicious killers.
"They kill without provocation, severely disrupting the ecological balance.
"This poses a threat to the rare beasts we raise, and it's causing us considerable trouble.
"Therefore, your mission is to eliminate these pesky little creatures. During the mission, you may use only your own strength. Energy weapons and auxiliary lifeforms such as plant life are prohibited.
"According to our statistics, there are more than a hundred species that need to be eliminated. Over a million of them are Universe Level, and around thirty thousand are Domain Lord Level.
"We'll reward you based on how much of the mission you complete.
"For each Universe Level First Order beast, you'll receive one million points; a Universe Level Second Order beast is worth two million points; a Universe Level Third Order beast is worth three million points, and so on.
"A Domain Lord Level First Order beast is worth one hundred million points, with higher orders calculated on the same scale. If you complete the mission in full, you may also make one request of the family."
Huang Wuye took a deep breath. What a generous offer! The family had found him an excellent place to train.
He'd already figured it out: the herding was just a pretext. The real purpose of this mission was the hunt.
"Boss, there's also a file with the list of targets. From the looks of it, this mission won't be simple." After finishing the briefing, Dasheng sent Huang Wuye the file.
Huang Wuye received the file and couldn't help clicking his tongue. It looked like he was in for a long campaign.
His current martial strength was Universe Level First Order, with a force amplification of thirty-eight times. As a Spiritual Force user, he was Universe Level Third Order and could perfectly control more than two hundred strands of telekinetic force.
After cultivating for this period, he'd made minor breakthroughs in both the Fire Origin Law and the Space Origin Law. Combined with his tenfold genetic strength and the powerful recovery and physical durability granted by his Undying Flame Body, ordinary Universe Level opponents no longer posed a threat to him.
But the million Universe Level beasts were different. Every one of them had survived countless battles to the death and possessed formidable combat experience. They'd also lived long enough that some monstrous individuals were bound to have emerged.
"With my current strength, I can dominate among Universe Level fighters and even hunt some Domain Lord Level beasts. But against the very strongest Domain Lord Level beasts, I'm afraid I can only protect myself." As he studied the target list, Huang Wuye weighed his options.
"Still, this is a perfect opportunity. Fighting different beasts will help me build up my combat experience.
"I can fight them while completing the mission.
"I don't have to limit myself to the species listed in the mission. I can fight other beasts too, as long as I don't kill them.
"I can also collect genetic material for use in Life Analysis, my Innate Secret Technique. I've never seen these species on my collection list before. I should probably visit some life planets and take a few for myself in the future."
Huang Wuye then told Dasheng to request a batch of special Universe Level Nutrient Solution from the family. He planned to train and increase his level at the same time.
"Thud! Thud! Thud!" A series of heavy, hurried footsteps came from the distance, and the earth seemed to let out a groan.
Following the sound, Huang Wuye spotted an enormous creature.
It was a colossal beast, one of the largest on Giant Wood Planet, where gigantic creatures roamed everywhere.
Its body was covered in green vines. It stood ten thousand meters tall and stretched tens of thousands of meters long. Its four sturdy hooves were like towering trees, leaving enormous craters in the ground as it ran. Two curved horns rose from its head, and its tail whipped from side to side, felling countless giant trees.
From above, it looked like a gigantic water buffalo, magnified countless times and covered in vines.
It was a special species native to Giant Wood Planet, a Vine Wood Ox. This one was Domain Lord Level Second Order.
A green light flashed over its body, and a green phantom enveloped it. It was fleeing from a pack of predators chasing close behind.
They were a vicious band of killers. Their bodies weren't particularly large, most measuring only about three hundred meters long, but they were all lean and long-limbed, their bodies covered in scales and patterned markings.
Their four limbs were strong and agile. Cold glints shone from their sharp claws; with a single swipe, they could shred a giant tree as easily as tofu, despite its strength being comparable to C-Grade Alloy.
Two long fangs jutted from each mouth, liquid dripping from them and raising wisps of white smoke wherever it splashed on the ground.
These predators were called Rot-Tooth Beasts. There were around three hundred of them, and they were firing pale moon-colored attacks from their mouths at the fleeing Vine Wood Ox.
A dense barrage struck the phantom covering the ox, ringing against it like a shower of metal.
Most of the attacks shattered on impact, but some pierced through and scraped across the vines covering its body. Only a dozen or so left deep and shallow wounds on the ox itself.
"Moo!" The Vine Wood Ox bellowed in pain and swept its thick tail, sending several Rot-Tooth Beasts flying an incredible distance. Judging by their condition, they probably wouldn't survive.
But the move slowed the already sluggish ox even further. A nearly thousand-meter-long Rot-Tooth Beast among the survivors spotted its chance. It roared, its leg muscles bulging slightly, then sprang toward the Vine Wood Ox.
"Whoosh!" With a sharp rush of air, it reached the ox's leg. Without hesitation, it sank its teeth into it, driving its two long fangs deep into the ox's flesh and tearing off a huge chunk.
"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!" One rush of air after another rang out as the beasts leaped onto the Vine Wood Ox. In an instant, all three hundred Rot-Tooth Beasts had swarmed over it.
After giving one last, agonized bellow, the Vine Wood Ox fell silent. All that remained was the sound of the beasts swallowing their food.
Before long, only a skeleton was left.
Just then, a figure arrived. It was Huang Wuye.
His long, fiery-red hair streamed in the wind. Dressed in a white robe, he flew toward them atop a snow-white spear.
"Gravity on Giant Wood Planet is too strong. I'm flying so slowly, even with my Spiritual Force helping me move. At least the Rot-Tooth Beasts haven't gone far, so I won't have to chase them any farther." Huang Wuye had spotted the situation earlier, but the planet's immense gravity had slowed him down.
The Rot-Tooth Beasts were one of the species on his target list, though this group was only a small portion of them.
"The Rot-Tooth Beasts' saliva is incredibly corrosive, and they're fast too. What a shame about that Domain Lord Level Vine Wood Ox. It was so huge that its speed was severely limited on Giant Wood Planet. Its flight speed was greatly reduced, and Rot-Tooth Beasts are fast. It couldn't beat them or outrun them."
