This, is Tailgating!

On the rooftop.

Umbrella Corporation employees were using satellites to observe everything happening on the ground. Seeing this, one of them called out to Dr. Isaacs, who was still reviewing Alice's combat data beside him. "Sir! Sir!"

"Stop him!"

Having just turned around, Dr. Isaacs saw the scene and realized he had underestimated the combat strength of those two. He immediately got to his feet and shouted at the assault team around him before hurriedly running outside.

Hearing Dr. Isaacs's order, the others looked at one another. They knew perfectly well that they were no match for Ren Ze, but rank was rank. Left with no choice, they drew their weapons and prepared to face Ren Ze, who was about to reach the rooftop.

Just as they stepped out of the tent, Dr. Isaacs had already run to the helicopter. Then several screams rang out behind him. When he turned around, Ren Ze had already reached the rooftop carrying the mutated Zombie, while all the team members behind him lay sprawled on the ground.

"Don't be in such a hurry to leave. Here's your gift back!"

Having just dealt with several assault team members using coins, Ren Ze tossed the "little darling" he was carrying at Dr. Isaacs.

In the final battle at Raccoon City, nearly half of over a hundred assault team members had died to Ren Ze's coins. With only four or five people here, one hand was more than enough to deal with them.

"Ah!"

Dr. Isaacs let out a pained scream. The helicopter pilot immediately drew his pistol and shot the Zombie in the head.

"Quick, take off! Give me the serum!"

Ren Ze had no intention of pursuing them and simply watched as Dr. Isaacs departed in the helicopter.

Down below, Alice had also finished her one-sided slaughter. Though these Zombies were far stronger than ordinary Zombies, they perhaps could no longer serve to hone the skills of the current Alice.

"Why didn't you keep them here?"

Alice, who had reached the rooftop, glanced at the helicopter that had not flown very far away and asked Ren Ze.

"Alice, let me teach you another lesson today. If you can outwit them, never fight them head-on! The person in charge of Umbrella was bitten by the Zombie I caught just now. Guess what will happen when he gets back?"

Thinking of the countless Alice clones buried in the self-destruction of the Tokyo Base in Resident Evil 4, Ren Ze felt both regret and heartache. He looked seriously at Alice as he spoke.

"That person in charge will be infected? Then all we need to do is go in, eliminate the infected monsters, and take over an intact base?" Alice thought it over before answering.

"That's more or less it. Alice, promise me this: never launch a direct assault on an Umbrella Corporation base! You never know how much heavy firepower is deployed inside. Even if you've learned Lingbo Micro-steps and can easily dodge bullets now, if the enemy truly can't beat you, they'll activate the base's self-destruct program and take you down with them! What would you do then, deep underground? As the former security chief of Umbrella Corporation's The Hive base, you should know I'm not just trying to scare you!"

Ren Ze looked at Alice with utmost seriousness.

"Fine, I promise!"

Alice replied weakly. The consequences Ren Ze described did leave her a little shaken, but she muttered aggrievedly, "I did have the idea of directly attacking an Umbrella base, but why did you have to be so serious about it?"

"Because I'm worried about you! Come on. If we don't follow them soon, the helicopter will disappear from sight."

With that, Ren Ze headed downstairs.

Behind him, after hearing Ren Ze's words, the grievance on Alice's face quickly vanished, and she happily followed after him.

In the desert, atop a dirt mound.

"So many. Shall we do this together?"

Alice looked down at the Umbrella Corporation helicopter parked on a flat patch of ground below. Beside it stood an inconspicuous little wooden cabin, while outside the surrounding barbed-wire fence, a dense mass of Zombies had gathered.

"Let's do it together! But don't use Psychic Power for now. Save your strength—we've got a big fight waiting for us inside! We can clear out these Zombie hordes outside while we're at it. This will soon be our base!"

Ren Ze said with a smile.

Half an hour later, Ren Ze and Alice sat resting at the entrance to the base, planning to recover a little before exploring the underground base.

Although there were many Zombies around the base, they were all slow-moving ordinary Zombies. For Ren Ze and Alice, dealing with them was easier than battle-hardened special forces shooting stationary targets.

The desert was far better than The Hive had been. There was plenty of room to maneuver, and they did not need to worry about being surrounded and trapped by the Zombie horde.

Still, having to chop off their heads one by one was indeed tiring when there were so many.

After the two had rested for a while, Ren Ze and Alice prepared to head toward the little wooden cabin. But after only a few steps, Alice suddenly sensed something. She stopped and looked toward a deep pit not far away.

Seeing this, Ren Ze naturally understood what had happened. He shook his head, stopped as well, and stayed by Alice's side.

Alice cautiously walked toward the deep pit. The closer she got, the faster her heart pounded, and an intense unease welled up within her.

When she reached the edge of the pit and saw the corpses of all those "herselves" inside, Alice suddenly felt dizzy, as though she could hear the desperate wails of "herself" beside her ears!

Seeing Alice standing at the edge of the pit with tears silently rolling down her cheeks, Ren Ze did not know what to say. He could only gently embrace her and comfort her in silence.

"I want to wipe out Umbrella Corporation!"

Alice turned to Ren Ze, her eyes filled with pain and fury. "Ren! I have to uproot Umbrella Corporation completely!"

As Alice fiercely wiped away the tears on her face, Ren Ze nodded gently. "I'll stand with you. That's also why I've been fighting Umbrella Corporation all this time! Don't worry. I'll help you!"

Only after seeing Alice calm down did Ren Ze gradually relax.

After all, the current Alice depended too heavily on him. Though her combat strength was greater than in the original story, she lacked the tempering that had forged the lone queen-like resolve of the original Alice, who had braved the apocalypse all by herself!

Alice kicked the wooden cabin's door open. Before the two of them stood a wooden table, two wooden chairs, inconspicuous wooden furniture around the room, and some miscellaneous clutter.

When they walked up to the wooden table in the middle of the cabin, it split apart to either side like an automatic sensor door. A bottomless passage appeared before them, and with a rumbling sound, an elevator rose from the depths of the passage.

The two exchanged a glance and rode the elevator down into the base over two thousand feet underground.

The underground base was dark and deep. Motion-sensor lights on the walls flickered uncertainly, and bloodstains covered the passageway on all sides. Alice drew her pistol and stood guard, then took an emergency flashlight from the wall to illuminate the passage ahead.

In the dim, eerie atmosphere, Alice looked around cautiously and said to Ren Ze, "Ren, it looks like a brutal battle took place here. We haven't encountered a single guard since coming down. Did your plan succeed? I wonder what kind of monster that person in charge mutated into, to slaughter the entire base..."

"It seems so. Be careful, this monster is pretty strong."

As Ren Ze walked forward, he looked over the wrecked laboratories they passed and spoke to Alice.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I am the base's artificial intelligence."

The two of them suddenly turned around and watched their backs vigilantly. In the middle of the laboratory they had passed, the base AI's holographic projection lit up—a virtual little girl dressed in white.

"I know who you are. I know your sister too. She's a woman who kills without batting an eye!"

Alice lowered her gun with a sigh of relief and complained to the AI. Ren Ze also watched the projection with interest. This AI's holographic projection seemed more humanized and realistic than the Red Queen from The Hive.

"My sister program merely followed the most logical course of action to preserve human lives."

The AI answered in a thoroughly serious manner.

"Right, kill the few to save the many. What happened here?"

Alice rolled her eyes and asked.

"Dr. Isaacs returned after becoming infected. We injected him with the latest immune serum, an immune serum derived from your blood. However, the infection had already caused massive genetic mutations. He killed everyone in the base."

"My blood?"

"After you were injected with the T-Virus at Raccoon City's City Hospital, the company retained a sample of your blood. Through the combination of your blood and the T-Virus, Dr. Isaacs concluded that this was the path to eradicating the bioterror crisis forever."

"You're saying my blood can cure all of this?"

"Correct."

"Then why would you, as Umbrella Corporation's artificial intelligence, help us?"

"Your blood is very pure. This base has all the equipment needed to synthesize the antidote."

"You're saying all of this will end?"

"Correct. But there is a small problem. The monster Dr. Isaacs mutated into is still inside the base. I have confined it to the lowest level, but I cannot keep it under control for long."

"Leave it to us. Let's go!"

Having finally listened through the plot dialogue, Ren Ze could not help but cut in.

"Good luck to you."

The AI's blessing came from behind them, and the surrounding space sank back into darkness.
