"Kaplan, how had you set the access permissions?"
Ren Ze turned and asked Kaplan.
"The other permissions haven't been set yet. At present, you're the only one with top-level access."
Kaplan answered.
"Then add Alice to the top-level access. As for the various departments, set the appropriate general and specialized permissions according to their functions. Once that's done, get Bai Yi working as soon as possible so she can help ease everyone's workload!"
Ren Ze thought for a moment before giving the order. Having a personal little secretary seemed pretty nice, but unfortunately, he had no use for one himself. Bai Yi should be put to work quickly, helping relieve the people in the settlement who were drowning in work.
"Understood, boss."
Seeing Kaplan throw himself back into work with renewed enthusiasm, Ren Ze smiled and didn't disturb him. He left the main control room with Alice.
"How's the training for your little sisters going?"
Ever since gaining Psychic Power, Ren Ze could finally distinguish Alice completely from her clone sisters through psychic sensing. Unlike before, when he was always worried that Alice would team up with her sisters to play all sorts of tricks on him...
"Not bad. They've basically mastered close-quarters combat, but they still feel somewhat weaker than I was back then. And I have no idea when they'll awaken Psychic Power."
"Training alone won't do. They need real combat experience eventually. Bring them back to the settlement tomorrow. There should be around a hundred throwing knives in that box we ordered before, right? I'll take the rest for myself, and then we'll go reclaim Salt Lake City!"
His strength had finally risen dramatically, yet he couldn't find an evenly matched opponent to temper himself against. Using the little Zombies to familiarize himself with his various abilities wasn't bad either. Although the base armory had plenty of daggers for him to train the "Sword Control Technique" with, taking Salt Lake City would greatly ease the settlement's increasingly heavy burden of food and supplies, while also giving the Alice Legion combat training. Three birds with one stone.
Wasn't that broadening the scope of things all at once?
The next day, they brought no one else—just Ren Ze, Alice, and the Alice Legion.
Ren Ze and Alice still rode in the SUV, while the remaining sisters boarded ten armored personnel carriers left behind by Umbrella. The convoy set off in grand fashion.
When they reached the settlement, they exchanged a few simple greetings with everyone. Seeing the Alice Legion in person left the others clicking their tongues in amazement. Ren Ze briefly explained the plan to attack Salt Lake City, instructed Jill to organize a large number of people and vehicles to follow behind them and receive the supplies later, then impatiently went to find the remaining box of throwing knives.
Looking at the ninety-one throwing knives still packed densely inside the box, Ren Ze developed a headache again. Even if he specially made a belt, there was no way it could hold this many. If only he had a storage ring. Shaking his head, he dumped all the knives into his backpack in one go.
Just imagining his future battle scenes made him cringe with delight. He would open his backpack, form a sword seal with one hand, then shout at his enemies, "Ten Thousand Sword Technique!"
Then a black swarm of throwing knives would fly out of his backpack at the enemy...
Lowbrow or not, who cared? His talent tree was just skewed, damn it. He didn't have a storage ring, but he was still going to have the bearing of a sword immortal!
Once everyone had assembled, Ren Ze waved his hand grandly. "Move out!"
"Alice, I'll leave them to you. There's no need to wipe out all the Zombies in a rush. There are at least several hundred thousand, maybe even a million Zombies in there. Just advance slowly. The main thing is to let them see some blood and get used to real combat. Safety comes first!"
"Jill, lead your team about five hundred meters behind Alice. Once they've cleared an area, go collect the supplies. Don't fire unless absolutely necessary."
The convoy quickly arrived at the outskirts of Salt Lake City. Ren Ze got out and gave the two women their instructions.
"What about you? Aren't you coming with us?"
Alice asked doubtfully.
"I'm going to go a little crazy. I won't be playing babysitter for you."
Ren Ze smiled.
Very soon, Alice understood what Ren Ze meant by going a little crazy.
Ren Ze stomped his right foot on the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust and leaving a spiderweb-like imprint in the concrete. Then, amid a violent gust of wind, he charged straight at the horde like a human-shaped tank crushing everything in its path!
Watching from afar, everyone saw that Ren Ze was empty-handed, yet he erupted with destructive power even greater than modern firearms. Aside from Alice, who could barely make out his movements, all the others could see were Zombie limbs flying everywhere as he rapidly slaughtered his way toward the city center.
Alice shook her head and led her sisters in slowly clearing the city one area at a time.
Ren Ze didn't use true qi. After all, he was already reluctant to use it to supply the T-Virus. He didn't even dare practice the Yijin Jing. If he ended up having to stay in the Resident Evil World for the rest of his life, that would be quite the joke. He truly had no idea how the T-Virus inside him would rebel if his true qi ran dry.
He relied purely on physical strength and speed as he harvested the horde. First, this would allow him to familiarize himself with his body as quickly as possible and gain perfect control over his strength and speed.
Second, he had been suppressing himself for months and needed an outlet.
Ever since entering the Resident Evil World, Ren Ze had always been overly cautious and afraid to cut loose. After all, when facing Zombies, he didn't dare gamble with his life. That severely conflicted with the fearless, unstoppable spirit of martial arts, leaving Ren Ze feeling deeply stifled.
Now that he had fused with the T-Virus, it was questionable whether Zombie claws could even break his skin. Naturally, Ren Ze wanted to vent to his heart's content and release the pent-up frustration in his chest!
In this utterly exhilarating release, every palm strike and every kick abandoned all formal techniques, targeting only the vital points of the Zombies' heads or spines and killing them in a single blow!
Among all martial arts under heaven, nothing is unbreakable; only speed cannot be broken!
As the slaughter continued, Ren Ze's understanding of the Nine-Layered Thunder Blade rose to a new level at this very moment.
So this was how the fourth layer of force should be applied!
Then, as he kept killing, Ren Ze suddenly realized there were fewer and fewer Zombies. Looking around again, he saw that he had already left the city. Was this the northern suburbs of Salt Lake City?
He had slaughtered all the way from south to north. Did he need to keep going from dawn until dusk?
Well, no need. After venting his way from south to north, his mind felt utterly clear and he was immensely satisfied!
He had also gained a deeper understanding and control of his body's strength and speed. The first four layers of the Nine-Layered Thunder Blade no longer held any mysteries for him. Unfortunately, he only possessed the first four layers for now.
Next, Ren Ze planned to head back and check on Alice's side. On the way back, he could conveniently practice his "Flying Dagger Control."
Ren Ze opened his backpack and controlled the throwing knives as they flew out...
Making all the throwing knives break the sound barrier wasn't difficult. The problem was that Ren Ze wasn't proficient enough yet. He often played around with them only for a knife to accidentally fly beyond the range of his Psychic Power and go out of control, which was pretty awkward...
For some reason, the Psychic Power awakened through the T-Virus had issues. In terms of strength, it should have been much stronger than Luo Feng's, yet its range was surprisingly limited.
And he could only control all the throwing knives to move in the same direction. He still couldn't make them slaughter targets from all sides at once.
It seemed that before he could completely master telekinetic object control, there was only one move he could use!
Come out! Blade Storm!
Ren Ze nodded as he watched the swarm of throwing knives orbiting him at a constant speed, clearly satisfied.
Controlling Blade Storm as he walked back, Ren Ze was surrounded by a swarm of throwing knives that turned into a curtain of light. Any Zombie drawn over by the scent of living humans would have its limbs and blood splattered apart the moment it approached the light curtain.
After only a few minutes, Ren Ze was already struggling a little. He quickly recalled most of the throwing knives, leaving nine behind to maintain Blade Storm.
The curtain of light shrank considerably, but its power remained as strong as ever. Ren Ze felt somewhat regretful. It seemed that, for now, the ninety-one throwing knives could only be used as a desperate trump card, or on certain occasions when he needed to put on a show in front of others...
That was fine too. At least he wouldn't have to carry a backpack everywhere anymore. Ren Ze felt that under normal circumstances, nine throwing knives were enough for combat. Later, he could just make a specialized belt like Alice's.
Before returning to the main group, Ren Ze recalled Blade Storm. He had no idea how many Zombies he had cleared out on the trip there and back, but the horde was visibly much sparser now.
With the aid of Alice's Psychic Power, most of the southern part of the city had basically been cleared. Of course, they had mainly focused on supply areas such as supermarkets, factories, and gas stations. They had not yet cleared the residential districts.
