"How is it? Did everything go smoothly?"

Ren Ze walked over to Alice, looked at the nimble figures in the distance, and asked.

"Pretty well. Ever since they learned they were all clones, they've poured all their energy into training and their hatred for Umbrella Corporation. It really hasn't been easy for them. Because of us, they never even had the right to pursue their own lives or love..."

Alice spoke with some emotion.

"Uh..."

Ren Ze didn't know how to respond. Wasn't the reason he had kept avoiding them around the base because he was afraid of facing them? Social, philosophical, and ethical issues surrounding clones were impossible for anyone to handle...

"When are we going to attack Umbrella's other bases?"

Alice understood Ren Ze's awkwardness and did not dwell on the subject, instead changing the topic.

"Let me think..."

Ren Ze sank into thought. Alice did not urge him and instead turned to look at her sisters in the distance.

Though he had always been wary of Umbrella's bases self-destructing, they could not keep dragging this out forever. Since he was still here, it would be best to help Alice eliminate this problem. If Alice could not leave with him, Umbrella Corporation would ultimately remain a hidden danger.

"Wait a little longer—six months at most. Once I've become fully familiar with and mastered Psychic Power, I'll accompany you to Umbrella Corporation's Tokyo Headquarters!"

What Ren Ze had in mind was to completely master telekinesis within half a year and become proficient at flying on a shield. That way, the threat posed by Umbrella blowing up its bases would be minimized.

"Alright."

Alice was thinking that, in another six months, her clone sisters should have awakened and become familiar with Psychic Power as well.

Within the settlement, everyone was delighted at the sight of the returning convoy loaded with supplies. Ren Ze and Alice did not stay long. They told Old Morris, Jill, and the others that in a few days, they would deliver laptops loaded with Bai Yi's subprograms to help them handle the vast majority of their affairs. Then, they took Alice and her sisters straight back to the base.

Happy days always passed too quickly.

Under Ren Ze's patient persuasion, Alice finally agreed once more to his request to cultivate Psychic Power together.

After Alice adapted to it, Ren Ze shamelessly figured out on his own how to cultivate both spirit and body together. Amid the double pleasure of mind and flesh, although every battle ended in Alice's crushing defeat, the time she could hold out grew longer and longer.

Over the half year, Alice's Psychic Power increased dramatically. She could sustain Blade Storm and fly with telekinesis for extended periods. Although Ren Ze's Psychic Power did not grow as much as Alice's due to his greater total reserves, it steadily improved as well.

Most importantly, after half a year of relentless sparring and development day and night, the precision of both their Psychic Power control had reached an advanced level. Calling it mastery down to the finest detail would not be an exaggeration.

Ren Ze could release ninety-one throwing knives to form a full-range, precisely controlled killing blade array. Maneuvering a riot shield through the air to perform all sorts of difficult movements was no longer a challenge either.

He also discovered a useful application of Psychic Power scouting. When he extended his psychic senses, he could determine an enemy's strength. For instance, within the base, Alice felt the strongest, followed by her sisters, and then everyone else.

The settlement was also thriving. With the support of the artificial intelligence Bai Yi, very few matters ever reached Ren Ze, finally allowing him to become a hands-off boss and focus on cultivating Psychic Power with Alice.

The Alice Legion had awakened Psychic Power three months ago. After another three months of Alice's training, they had all reached the level Alice possessed half a year earlier. Whenever the settlement encountered some minor trouble, any Alice squad could simply be sent over to resolve it.

However, whether for ethical or moral reasons, Ren Ze would never cultivate Psychic Power with those sisters, so their upper limits were certainly lower than Alice's.

At the base, Ren Ze and Alice were fully prepared to depart. He rejected Alice's proposal to bring her sisters along to gang up on Umbrella, instead bringing Rain to pilot a helicopter for them. They would follow the Pacific continental shelf all the way to Japan. With Ren Ze and Alice present, they could refuel at any large city or military base they came across. It was a little troublesome, but in the apocalypse, they had to make do.

As for why the two of them did not simply fly there on shields, with their current Psychic Power, making a round trip from the base to the settlement was no problem. But flying directly to Japan was still beyond them. Even if they could manage it, how would they have any strength left to fight? Other than the base and the settlement, there was nowhere else they could get a good night's sleep. Draining their mental strength completely elsewhere would be a very bad idea.

Umbrella Corporation Headquarters, Tokyo underground base.

"What happened?"

A man in sunglasses asked his subordinate. He was Wesker, chairman of Umbrella Corporation's board of directors.

"Chairman Wesker, ten minutes ago, we lost contact with all sentries around headquarters."

The subordinate reported nervously.

"You waited ten minutes to tell me?"

Wesker frowned slightly.

"We thought it was a communications issue, so we didn't want to disturb you."

"Contact the surface entrance!"

"Unable to establish contact. Two unidentified targets have entered the base!"

"Sir, there's movement at Elevator Two!"

For a moment, the personnel at the control consoles began discovering one anomaly after another.

"Send the guards to the main entrance immediately!"

At the entrance to Elevator Two, more than twenty guards stood ready with riot shields and automatic rifles.

Ding!

The elevator doors slowly opened to either side. What awaited the guards were nine streaks of silver light, like phantom streamers. The heads of more than twenty guards were pierced through in succession.

The elevator doors opened fully, and Ren Ze and Alice slowly stepped out. The nine streaks of silver light flew back to Alice's waist.

Guards continuously rushed over to reinforce them, but within a thousand-meter radius, it was like a forbidden zone of death. Though the underground base was not small, there was clearly nowhere the guards could safely open fire.

Only then did Wesker finally see Ren Ze and Alice on the surveillance feed.

"Have the guards flood the main entrance with nerve gas."

Wesker frowned and gave the order.

"Sir, our men are still up there?"

The subordinate hesitated.

Bang!

Wesker pulled out his pistol and blew his head off with a single shot. "Any other questions?"

The others were silent as cicadas in winter.

"All units, hold your positions. Fully activate all security measures. Seal all elevators and lock down the internal blast doors. I also want a damage report."

Wesker ordered.

Meanwhile, the two of them moved like grim reapers, harvesting the guards' lives all the way through.

"All these doors have been sealed. Looks like we can't get in through the usual route."

Alice looked at Ren Ze as she spoke.

"Then we'll take an unusual route."

With that, Ren Ze removed the shield from his back, and Alice did the same.

Ren Ze smashed the bulletproof glass before the hollow atrium with one palm strike. Then, with shields under their feet, the two jumped straight down.

Wesker, at the control station below, had just watched Ren Ze and Alice's unbelievable killing methods through the surveillance cameras when he saw the two of them diving straight down.

While his subordinates drew their pistols and fired upward, Wesker decisively made his escape.

Ren Ze erected a Psychic Power barrier around them. The bullets lost all momentum after piercing through it and fell helplessly to the ground.

"After him. The base is about to self-destruct."

After landing at the control station, Ren Ze glanced at the alarm on the screen and rushed after Wesker, who had vanished around a distant corner, with Alice beside him.

Wesker ran toward the helicopter at the end of the corridor with every ounce of strength he had. Reaching the end, he turned back and saw Ren Ze and Alice appear. A confident smile appeared on Wesker's face as he boarded the helicopter.

The helicopter rose into the air, barely a hundred meters off the ground. Wesker cast a disdainful glance at Ren Ze and Alice as they emerged below.

Seeing this, Ren Ze used his Psychic Power to pound wildly at the inside of the helicopter. "It's such a sophisticated aircraft. I may not know exactly where the engine is, but I'll crush everything inside and see how you're going to fly!"

"No!"

If Wesker had remained relatively calm when he first saw Ren Ze and Alice fly up by standing on two shields, it was because his personal aircraft was bulletproof. But when a sudden sensation of weightlessness struck, Wesker truly panicked. Seeing that there was no longer any hope of escape, he decisively activated the base's self-destruct sequence early.

"Go!"

Ren Ze and Alice rode their shields and shot outward.

In ten seconds, the two had only just flown beyond the core blast radius of Umbrella Corporation's underground base. After all, flying on shields could not possibly reach the supersonic speed of controlling flying knives.

Boom!

Feeling an immensely powerful energy surge behind him, Ren Ze only had time to throw himself over Alice, curling his body around her to shield her in his arms while raising his shield over his own head.

Fortunately, they were not at the center of the explosion, so they had escaped with their lives. Ren Ze, blasted away by the shockwave, had a mangled, bloody back. He spat out a mouthful of dark blood, then turned back with lingering fear to look at the former site of Umbrella Corporation's headquarters, now reduced to an enormous crater.

"Ren, don't scare me! Are you okay?"

Seeing Ren Ze spit blood, Alice panicked completely. She knew exactly how formidable Ren Ze's defenses were.

"I'm fine. My internal organs were shaken up a little. I'll be fine after resting for a while."

Ren Ze smiled and reassured her.

"It's my fault. I should have listened to you. I shouldn't have forced our way into Umbrella Corporation's base. I'm sorry, I'm the one who got you hurt like this..."

Alice rose to her feet and saw Ren Ze's mangled back. Tears immediately streamed down her face in her anxiety.

"I'm really fine. Be good, they're only superficial wounds. Don't cry."

Ren Ze circulated his true energy and forced the assorted fragments of explosive debris embedded in his back out of his body. Alice was about to help him stop the bleeding when she suddenly discovered that no blood was flowing from the dense wounds.

"I never expected to experience the healing effect brought by T-Virus enhancement for the first time."

Ren Ze made a joking remark.

But Alice could not smile.

She felt that she had been too arrogant. Not only had she gotten Ren Ze injured, she had nearly gotten her sisters killed as well. At first, Alice had wanted to bring the whole group to gang up on Umbrella Corporation, because their strength was comparable to what hers had been half a year ago, and she had thought there would be no major problems. But after witnessing the utterly insane base self-destruction, like a miniature nuclear bomb, she sank into deep self-reproach.

"Let's go. This minor injury will heal in a few days, so don't overthink it. This time, we took out Umbrella Corporation's headquarters and the chairman of its board. Umbrella Corporation probably won't be able to cause any more major trouble in the future."
