Shangguan Yue is an orphan raised by his grandmother. His father, Shangguan Hong, is missing, while his mother was an Uchiha; Yue initially identifies himself solely by the Shangguan name and refuses Tsunade’s suggestion that he adopt the Uchiha surname. 9 21

At five years old, Yue is already training alone in his courtyard, practicing against wooden dummies and working on the Little Li Flying Dagger to build spiritual power. His first encounter with Tsunade reveals that he is the child fiancé arranged for her, creating immediate tension over their extreme age gap. 3
