Aegwynn told Shawn that a true Mage Tower was best built on a ley line nexus on the planet Azeroth, allowing it to draw upon vast amounts of ley line energy. On that count alone, Shawn had chosen the wrong site.

Second, building a Mage Tower involved far more than simply erecting a tower. A true Mage Tower needed magic circles inscribed throughout, inside and out. Its walls, doors, windows, floors, ceilings, and even every component required meticulous magical treatment, enchanting, and inscription. Several mages were needed to oversee it all. Only then could a Mage Tower truly serve its purpose.

With enough mages to operate it, a fully equipped Mage Tower would be difficult to breach even if several times their number attacked it.

The Tower of Azora, for instance, housed many low-rank and mid-rank mages besides Theocritus. Together, these mages formed a group capable of operating a Mage Tower.
