"Hey, hey, you're awake! What's your name? Which family are you from? How did you end up passed out here? This forest is pretty safe, but there are still dangers around. Weren't you afraid something might happen? You look so young. How can you already be such a handful?" Illidan patted Shawn's shoulder, then held out a hand.
Shawn paused, then quickly understood what Illidan meant. He reached out too, and Illidan pulled him to his feet.
Then Shawn answered, "My name is Shawn Feathermoon, from the Feathermoon family. I heard a really powerful Half-Elf demigod lived in this forest, so I wanted to take a look. But I couldn't find him, and I got so tired that I lay down on the ground and fell asleep. I didn't pass out."
"That's Cenarius!" Illidan exclaimed happily. "A great demigod! He's our teacher! They say he existed even before the Night Elves appeared. Many creatures come here because of his reputation, seeking him out to study the way of the Druid under him. It's an amazing kind of Nature Magic. Oh, we came because of his reputation too. Unfortunately, Tyrande doesn't want to learn, and I'm no good at it. Only Malfurion is really talented. Even Teacher praises him!"
Shawn paused, then murmured to himself, "So Malfurion wasn't the first Druid..."
Malfurion chimed in, "Shawn, of course I'm not the first Druid. Many creatures studied the Druidic Path before us, like Furbolgs and Quilboar. Even among the Night Elves, I can't be sure I'm the first Druid. Who knows? But we did invent the term 'Druid'!"
Yes, who knew?
Shawn did not dwell on that. Instead, he asked, "Then can I come with you to find Cenarius? I want to learn the way of the Druid too."
"Of course," Malfurion said.
