After flying for a long time, Chromie stopped in the deepest part of the Caverns of Time.

This was the heart of the Caverns of Time, a place only the Bronze Dragonflight had ever been allowed to enter. The Bronze Dragonflight's artifact, the Hourglass of Time, was kept here. Bronze dragons relied on this artifact to travel freely through the timelines of the past, present, and future, protecting Azeroth's timelines from harm.

Protecting the Hourglass of Time was a large part of the reason outsiders were forbidden from entering.

Standing on the ground, Shawn saw what seemed to be shifting images of light and shadow within the nearby Hourglass of Time. Sometimes they were disjointed fragments, sometimes a boundless, brilliant starry sky, and sometimes endless darkness. Amid those shifting images, an enormous bronze dragon drifted up and down, his eyes tightly closed.

He seemed to be right before Shawn's eyes, yet also somewhere else entirely. It was an indescribable sensation, one Shawn could neither express nor comprehend.

"The Hourglass of Time captures fragments from different timelines. They might be events that happened in the past, things happening in the present, or glimpses of the future. The Time-Lord has always wandered through the river of time, observing all the timelines through the Hourglass of Time," Chromie explained.

Understanding dawned on Shawn.

So the enormous bronze dragon before him was Nozdormu, the Time-Lord.
