It was a city built by Ancient Night Elf mages, with who knew how many Night Elf Arcanists hidden inside. Later, the landscape had changed amid world-shattering upheaval, leaving the city in ruins: the present-day Dire Maul. Large numbers of Satyrs and Ogres had moved in, dividing it three ways with the ancient Elves.

Wiping out three thousand Hatecrest Naga in yesterday's battle did not mean war was easy. That had been a surprise attack, and the forces involved had included not just the Sentinels of Feathermoon Stronghold, but Jaina, an Archmage, over a hundred Water Elementals, and five Sea Giants.

Shandris shook her head inwardly, thinking that this young member of her race was still far too young. He had no idea how cruel war was or how powerful their enemies were.

Jaina had none of Shandris's reservations and sneered outright. "Shawn, do you think Dire Maul is easy to deal with? If it were, would General Shandris have allowed it to remain for so long? She would have wiped it out ages ago!"

Shawn shook his head. "Like I said, we can first find a way to throw Dire Maul into chaos and make the factions inside fight each other. Set one enemy against another, then reap the rewards."
