A Troll Healer examined the dead Troll's corpse, then pulled a Gray Rat from a pocket and forced it to bite the Troll Hexer.
Three seconds later, the rat foamed at the mouth and dropped dead.
The sight frightened the watching Trolls even more. Many immediately turned and left, afraid they might accidentally come into contact with the deadly poison and die there themselves.
The Troll Healer's expression grew grave, and he looked at Shawn with deep apprehension.
He knew perfectly well that the poison in the dead Troll's body was more terrifying than any he had ever encountered. He never wanted to touch it. Ever.
And at the feet of the hexer before him sat a terrifying spider the size of a palm.
The poison that had killed the Troll had most likely come from that spider.
Anyone who could control such a spider was probably not only more proficient in Voodoo than he was, but also a Troll Beast Tamer.
One plus one was greater than two. The Troll Healer had no desire to provoke this terrifying hexer.
So he gave Shawn a long, searching look, then turned and left without hesitation.
Only after all the Trolls had left did Shawn let out a long breath.
Before the fight began, Shawn had believed he stood a very good chance of defeating those Trolls and that he would probably be safe afterward. But only after actually going through it all did he realize that no amount of anticipation could compare to the joy of finally being safe.
The best part was that I was still alive.
Shawn found somewhere to sit and remained on guard for a long time. Only after confirming that no Troll would come near him, and that all of them were keeping their distance instead,
