Of course, provided the conditions allowed, he still hoped to be able to arrest the students of his own school alive.
"Ku... Kudo-kohai, why are you still... here?"
The one who spoke was Mibu Sayaka.
Splattered blood had stained her pristine school uniform skirt, and droplets of blood were speckled across her hands and face.
Although her speech was stuttering, the fact that she could still speak at all was proof of her inner resilience.
Had any other student uninitiated in the ways of the world been left here, they likely would have fainted from fright at this scene of carnage.
"You bastard."
The guy who had been sitting in the chair copying data also stood up, disengaged the safety on his automatic pistol, and prepared to fire at Kudo Mitsunobu.
Another beam of fluorescent green light erupted from the muzzle of [Night], but this time, the beam struck the terrorist precisely in the heart.
Dropping the gun he held, he clutched the gaping hole in his chest, seemingly wanting to say something more.
However, his unfocused eyes, the blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, and his slowly collapsing body all proved that his life had been extinguished; there was no room left for him to speak.
When it came down to it, Kudo Mitsunobu had never intended to leave all of them alive when he entered; that would have been far too troublesome. One was enough, which was why he had been so decisive in taking their lives.
With a single step, he activated [Flash Time] once again.
Only this time, the distance he traversed was much further than when he had fought Shiba Tatsuya; after all, [Flash Time] was a technique similar to spatial teleportation.
What he had used during his previous duel with Shiba Tatsuya was merely a neutered version of the current technique, which had been purely an application of physical arts at the time.
True [Flash Time] required the use of divergent magic to open a vacuum channel between two points, followed by a unique exertion technique to pass through the channel in an instant, thereby creating the illusion of instantaneous movement.
Standing in front of the central control console, Kudo Mitsunobu bent down, reached out, and crushed the storage device still plugged into the console.
Mibu Sayaka watched everything happening before her in a daze, while the other two terrorists were so infected by the murderous atmosphere radiating from Kudo Mitsunobu that they didn't even dare to draw a full breath.
"Senior Mibu, isn't what you are pursuing the improvement of the treatment system for Course 2 Students? Then, can you explain to me why you are here?"
Kudo Mitsunobu spoke coldly; he would now decide how to handle her based on Mibu Sayaka's answer.
The incident where she blocked the screening room could have been taken lightly and treated as if it never happened, but the current situation was entirely different.
Stealing precious magic data from Magic High School was a full-blown criminal act that would lead to a military tribunal.
However, out of acquaintance, and the fact that she was a student of the same school, the impression Mibu Sayaka had left on him yesterday wasn't too bad.
He would consider whether he should use his influence to protect Mibu Sayaka.
The second update is here.
I've decided to find some pictures to upload while I'm on vacation.
I'm too embarrassed to ask for tips, so please leave some free tickets and comments, I beg of you.
Actually, I want to write a swimsuit chapter, but unfortunately, even at the fastest pace, it won't be until after the Nine Schools Competition.
Chapter 29: Breakthrough [1]
Mibu Sayaka finally seemed unable to bear the bloody scene before her any longer, falling to her knees and covering her face in tears.
"I don't know! Why did we have to investigate magic data when all we asked for was a change in the system?"
It seems she isn't completely stupid!
Then I'll give her a chance!
Kudo Mitsunobu completely neutralized the sobbing Mibu Sayaka and the other two terrorists.
The force he used was definitely ruthless; after all, he hadn't called for any other help, so their state of dizziness would likely last for an entire day.
"Mitsunobu, where are you now? Riots have started breaking out all over the school."
Jumonji Katsuto's voice communication came through right on cue.
"Perfect. Senior Jumonji, please send a few people to the school library. There are four terrorists and two students from this school here who need to be detained."
"Bring a stretcher as well; one of the terrorists is seriously injured, and the rest have been neutralized by me."
This was like having a pillow handed to him just as he felt sleepy; Kudo Mitsunobu had originally intended to notify the Disciplinary Committee himself to handle it.
After all, he hadn't expected students from his own school to be involved when he arrived; he had been prepared to leave only one survivor for interrogation and eliminate the rest.
"I didn't expect that students from our school were involved in this."
"Yes. Senior Jumonji, please try to cover for these two students a little! It seems they were just deceived into coming here and weren't fully aware of the situation."
"I will handle the rest."
"I understand!"
After hanging up the communication, Kudo Mitsunobu prepared to go downstairs to bring the other two terrorists up to keep an eye on them as well, even though he had thoroughly knocked them unconscious.
But those two were still lying splayed out in the lobby; it wouldn't be good if someone suddenly rescued them in the meantime.
Just as Kudo Mitsunobu reached the top of the stairs, he saw the Shiba siblings and Erika Chiba below in the lobby, checking on the two terrorists lying on the ground.
"You guys arrived quite quickly! You must have headed straight here the moment the riots started."
Kudo Mitsunobu leaned against the stair railing and spoke to the group in the lobby below.
Shiba Tatsuya had already noticed Kudo Mitsunobu the moment he reached the stairs, though perhaps that wasn't entirely accurate to say.
From the moment he entered the library, he had already used Elemental Sight to clearly map out the positions of everyone inside, and the sight of one person standing while the rest lay sprawled on the floor had long since confirmed to him that the enemies had already been subdued.
He simply didn't know who had been the one to subdue them.
"Did you know the terrorists were going to attack here from the start, Mitsunobu?"
"It wasn't exactly hard to guess. After all, there are only two or three important locations in the school, and I simply judged that this place was at the highest risk."
Kudo Mitsunobu shrugged, then leaped directly over the fourth-floor railing, though he did use magic to step against the wall twice to decelerate during his descent; otherwise, even he would have been severely injured from such a height.
"Since you're here, that works out perfectly—do me a favor."
"What is it? Or rather, we came here specifically to help."
