"Scum."
Kudo Mitsunobu spat out the word coldly, though he still used his brainwave calculations via his earring-type CAD to stop the bleeding of the wailing Shiichi.
This wasn't out of any sudden surge of compassion, but rather because if he didn't stop the bleeding, the man wouldn't survive until the ambulance arrived.
Even if he was scum, he still held great value for now; after all, he was the key figure in clearing the names of the students from his school.
"Damn it!"
A mercenary in field gear, seemingly unable to withstand the pressure, drew a military knife from his thigh sheath and lunged directly at Kudo Mitsunobu.
"Honestly, you could have been arrested with all your limbs intact, so why must you insist on asking for trouble?" Kudo Mitsunobu sighed slightly.
He raised his specialized pistol-type CAD, [Night], which was pitch black with silver streamlined accents.
He gently pulled the trigger.
"So hot, what is this?"
"It's the [Blazing Flame Domain]!" a mercenary screamed in terror.
"Looks like there's someone here who knows their stuff! Don't worry, my control is quite decent; I'll probably only roast you to medium-rare!"
Kudo Mitsunobu decomposed the gas into plasma, then forcibly separated the cations and electrons to create a high-energy electromagnetic field.
A few seconds later.
Aside from Kudo Mitsunobu, there was no one left standing in the room; everyone on the ground had suffered varying degrees of burns.
Although they were members of an anti-magic organization, it seemed a few of them could use magic; the few who remained conscious had only managed to stay awake by using their own defensive spells amidst the raging inferno.
"Hmm, my control is indeed quite good."
Kudo Mitsunobu glanced at Shiichi, who had been spared from the flames, and nodded with satisfaction—after all, he couldn't afford for anyone to die, least of all him!
A blade tip pierced through the main door, and the five-centimeter-thick iron door was sliced into several pieces as if it were tofu.
"Vibration-type magic—High-Frequency Blade, is it?"
The silver-white blade was wreathed in orange-yellow Psions, and even from nearly ten meters away, Kudo Mitsunobu could hear the piercing hum emanating from the weapon.
The ones who entered, blade in hand, were Kirihara Takeaki and Jumonji Katsuto.
"Hey, aren't you going a bit too far with this?" Kirihara Takeaki said, his face full of shock.
Even he couldn't help but feel a wave of nausea at the sight of the carnage before him, compounded by the familiar, lingering scent of charred flesh that kept assaulting his nose.
Jumonji Katsuto frowned as well, though he didn't show the same intense discomfort as Kirihara Takeaki.
"The enemies on the way up have all been dealt with; none managed to escape."
"What about your side?"
"As you can see, total annihilation."
Kudo Mitsunobu holstered his [Night] and pointed toward Shiichi, whom he had reduced to a human torso.
"This is the leader of the Japan branch, [Shiichi]."
"How did he provoke you? Why is he receiving such special treatment?"
Kirihara Takeaki didn't know how to describe Shiichi for a moment, so he settled on the word "special."
"The students at our school committed crimes only after being controlled by his consciousness-interference magic, [Evil Eye]."
"What do you mean?"
Kirihara Takeaki's grip on his sword hilt tightened.
"It means he tampered with the memories of our students, exploiting the emptiness in their hearts to take control of them."
"Are you saying that Mibu ended up like this because he lied to her?"
Kirihara Takeaki's expression shifted instantly; a complete reversal from his earlier joking demeanor, he now looked like a tiger ready to tear its prey apart.
The hum of the katana in his hand intensified as the A-rank close-combat spell [High-Frequency Blade] wrapped around the edge once more.
"Kirihara."
Jumonji Katsuto stopped Kirihara Takeaki's movement directly; if Shiichi were still in one piece, he wouldn't mind letting him take a swing to vent his anger.
But in Shiichi's current state, one more strike would send him straight to meet the Buddha.
"Senior Kirihara, please restrain your anger for now! If he dies, no one will be able to help Mibu-senpai clear her name."
"Hmph!"
The intervention from Kudo Mitsunobu and Jumonji Katsuto allowed Kirihara Takeaki to cool his rage-filled head just a little.
"Alright, let's clean up the battlefield."
Jumonji Katsuto notified the members of the Jumonji main house, whom he had contacted before arriving, to come and handle the cleanup.
"Then I'll head out for some fresh air; the smell in here is really not very pleasant."
Although it had been satisfying to burn them, the aftermath was truly foul-smelling; Kudo Mitsunobu apologized slightly to the two and stepped outside.
Neither of them had any objections; Jumonji Katsuto did so out of his own nature, while Kirihara Takeaki wanted to keep a close watch on the culprit who had deceived Mibu.
"How is it? Did you clean everything up?"
As soon as Kudo Mitsunobu stepped outside, he saw Fujibayashi Kyoko waving at him; naturally, there was a man lying at her feet whom she had completely paralyzed.
"I didn't expect there to be a fish that slipped through the net! Where did he crawl out from?"
"Not quite! It seems he was in charge of reconnaissance and just happened to return from the outside, so I subdued him right here."
After Fujibayashi Kyoko finished speaking, she rewarded the man on the ground with another Lightning Rod.
"I think he shouldn't be able to get up anymore."
Kudo Mitsunobu's mouth twitched as he counted the Lightning Rods on the man's body—there were a full eight of them.
Given the resistance of a human body, it actually only takes two Lightning Rods at most to put someone into a state of total paralysis.
The woman before him was clearly just amusing herself at the expense of the terrorist on the ground!
"Kyoko-nee, your sense of humor is truly as twisted as ever!"
