Jumonji Katsuto had good reason to be troubled. Third High School's current record was {8:0}; one more victory would let them sweep the preliminaries.
First High School's record was {6:1}. Their only loss had been to Third High School.
In all fairness, if First High School could get the Monolith Code match invalidated, they'd feel as though they'd gotten away with something.
As mentioned earlier, even though their goal from the start had been second place, assembling a team capable of taking second place at the Nine Schools Competition was no easy feat.
Those three were already among the top-performing Course 1 Students. The two events were fully staffed with students who were even better than them, so even if they replaced the team members, they wouldn't be able to find suitable replacements.
After all, having watched Third High School's Ichijo Masaki and Kichijoji Shinkuro compete, no one would doubt that those three could win the Monolith Code championship.
But if they really applied to have the event invalidated, Third High School would surely object. It would be extremely unfair to them.
Given the circumstances, it would actually be easier to apply to replace the competitors.
"光宣, I'll leave it to you and Saegusa to negotiate with the Tournament Committee. Whatever the outcome, we can accept it. Does anyone have any objections?"
After thinking it over, Jumonji Katsuto decided to put Kudo Mitsunobu in charge. After all, the Kudo Family, as the local power, helped out whenever they hosted the Nine Schools Competition.
So Jumonji Katsuto thought that putting Kudo Mitsunobu in charge of the negotiations might lead to a better outcome.
"Fine. Leave it to me, then!"
Kudo Mitsunobu nodded and agreed. He understood Jumonji Katsuto's intentions.
The other students didn't quite understand, but they had no objections to
