"It seems the Earth Alliance Forces were waiting for my arrival!" After hearing the report, Felix had a hunch. Pulling his thoughts back, Felix spoke into the comms.
"I understand. Report any developments immediately."
With that, he ended the transmission and pulled his helmet onto his head.
He placed his fingers on the communication adjustment buttons, tuned the frequency, and spoke.
"I am launching!"
The short, four-word command reached the ears of the Maintenance Crew chief.
The Maintenance Crew chief replied with a single word and began making arrangements.
The corridor in front of the Ginn opened, the Ginn was released from its rack, and the rear power cable disconnected from the port. Under Felix's control, the Ginn stepped out from its docking position.
Exiting the Hangar, Felix saw that the Guul he would be using had already been moved out as well.
He adjusted his signal settings, establishing a connection with the Guul via laser link.
As he maneuvered the Guul to take off from the ground, Felix simultaneously engaged the Ginn's back thrusters, leaping into the air.
The Ginn soared to a height of thirty meters, and the Guul, already in flight, moved beneath the Ginn's feet, allowing the suit to land steadily upon it.
The soles of its feet locked into the pedals on the Guul, the locking mechanism engaged, and a hardwired connection was established, replacing the previous laser signal link.
The Guul's rear thrusters flared, outputting immense thrust as it carried the Ginn piloted by Felix toward the front lines.
Inside the Ginn cockpit:
"Captain, which sector of the front line are you heading to?"
A voice inquired over the comms.
Hearing the question, Felix replied over the channel.
"Heading to the northern front!"
He then cut the transmission.
At the northern front:
After a few minutes of flight, the intercepting Ginn squadron arrived. Just as they were about to open fire on the Earth Alliance Forces' ground units, a barrage of missiles flew toward them from the front.
Seeing the sheer number of missiles, the Ginn pilots naturally had no time for anything else and maneuvered their units to engage the incoming projectiles.
Selecting their weapons and pulling the triggers, the Missile Pods they carried opened, launching their payload of small missiles.
Propelled by their boosters, the missiles quickly reached speed before the boosters cut out, allowing them to streak toward the incoming threats.
The thrusters controlling the missiles' flight attitude adjusted constantly to maintain their trajectory.
In the blink of an eye, the missiles collided with the incoming barrage. Violent explosions erupted in the sky, the resulting flames forming a wall of fire across the horizon.
Watching the wall of fire, the Ginn pilots did not let their guard down, maneuvering their Ginns and Guuls in mid-air to dodge shells fired by ground vehicles.
While evading, they opened fire on the ground vehicles with their Heavy Assault Machine Guns.
One shot flipped a tank!
With every pull of the trigger, a vehicle exploded.
Within the ground armed forces:
"Damn it! What are the air force guys doing?"
Feeling the pressure of the aerial bombardment, the ground unit's frontline commander cursed. No sooner had he finished speaking than a comrade's voice crackled over the comms.
"We're here to help you, of course."
Hearing this, the commander adjusted his optical sensor angle and saw Vanguard Fighter units appearing on the battlefield. With these fighters joining the fray, the ZAFT MS units that had been lording over them were no longer able to act so brazenly.
"You're a bit late."
A smirk played on his lips as he voiced his complaint with a chuckle.
He then issued an order.
"Open fire on the ZAFT MS in the sky!"
"Yes, sir!"
The gunner replied.
He maneuvered the turret to aim at the enemies in the sky. Without radar locking capabilities, aiming under these conditions was exhausting work.
The gunner had to make constant adjustments based on the situation to achieve something akin to visual tracking.
He pressed the trigger, and the electromagnetic cannon fired.
A railgun shell streaked toward the sky, but missed its mark.
"You brat, aim before you fire!"
"Commander, without radar locking, it's incredibly difficult to aim using only optical sensors!"
The gunner let out a helpless sigh.
The commander, who was also doubling as the tank commander, raised his hand and smacked the gunner hard on the back of the head, glaring at him viciously.
"What are you arguing about! Back in the day, when there was no radar, those gunners fired relying solely on their eyes. Didn't they still fight on the battlefield? If our predecessors could do it, why can't you?"
"That's ancient history."
The gunner muttered a complaint under his breath.
Before his superior could strike him again, he hurriedly adjusted his state and continued aiming at the sky.
Just as he was aiming, the Railgun Tank suddenly jolted violently, instantly ruining the hard-won lock-on, which infuriated the gunner.
Unable to suppress his rage, he roared at the driver.
"Asshole! How are you driving? You just wasted the angle I finally managed to find!"
"Fuck! Stop yelling at me! If I hadn't reacted quickly, you'd be off having tea with your grandfather in heaven right now!"
"Both of you, shut up!"
Listening to their bickering, the commander felt his calm demeanor fraying into irritation, and he growled with a hint of malice.
Hearing their superior's displeasure, the two, who were just about to retort, fell silent and returned to their duties.
The gunner aimed at the sky and opened fire!
He pulled the trigger, and a shell shot out.
As the shell flew at high speed through the air, nearing a Guul beneath a Ginn, a bullet streaked in from the distance.
The two collided.
BOOM!
A loud explosion rang out.
"Who was that?"
The gunner exclaimed in shock at the precision of the shot.
Seeing the attack, the commander didn't hesitate and immediately ordered the driver.
"Evasive maneuvers, now!"
"Already on it!"
The driver replied.
Just as the Railgun Tank the three were in began to move, a massive bullet shot down from the sky.
The commander and the gunner watched the projectile descend.
Their pupils constricted as fear spread through their eyes.
"Ah!"
A scream of terror was the last sound they left in this world.
BOOM!
A violent explosion instantly swallowed the entire tank.
The three men lost their lives in the blast, their bodies not even left intact.
In the sky.
Felix, who had arrived at high speed, maneuvered through the air to dodge incoming fire after destroying the tank.
Ginn turned and fired a shot.
BOOM!
An explosion echoed in the sky as a fighter jet disintegrated, its debris raining down toward the ground.
