Seeing Chairman Siegel being so modest, Felix smiled faintly and raised his soda for another huge gulp. The ice-cold drink slid into his stomach, sending a burst of refreshment straight to his head.
Seeing Felix drink soda like that, Lacus spoke up out of concern for his health.
"Drinking soda like that is bad for your health."
"Why worry about that? Who knows, maybe I'll die on the battlefield someday. If I don't enjoy life however I want now, I won't get another chance after I'm dead."
With her concerned reminder, the words slipped straight out of Felix's mouth. Hearing his answer and seeing the open-minded smile on his face, Lacus's delicate body trembled. Her heart was deeply shaken, and she even forgot to eat the skewer in her hand.
After recovering from her stunned daze, Lacus lowered her head and pressed her lips together. Looking at the skewer in her hand, a feeling of unworthiness spread through her heart, leaving her unable to eat it.
Felix and Siegel both noticed her emotional state. Seeing his daughter like this, Siegel said nothing and merely patted her shoulder calmly. Felix, on the other hand, spoke up.
"Miss Lacus, you don't need to blame yourself like this. We fight so that you and everyone in PLANT can eat happily, live each day well, and seeing you live happily each day is enough to bring us comfort." At that point, Felix shifted his tone and continued. "So please be happy. Don't show such feelings. Otherwise, I'll feel guilty too—guilty for passing my negative emotions on to you."
