"Where's Chen?" Tomoko asked her two daughters.
"Mom, you came back a little late. Chen already left," Sonoko answered her mother, Tomoko, honestly.
"What? He already left?" Tomoko was slightly taken aback. She hadn't expected Chen to leave so soon.
"He sure ran off fast. I'll definitely corner you next time," Tomoko muttered to herself under her breath.
"Mom, what did you say?" Sonoko hadn't heard Tomoko clearly, so she asked her.
"Nothing. Don't ask so many questions. Since Chen has already left, I'll be going too." Tomoko walked outside.
"Seriously? You're leaving already?" Sonoko looked at her mother in frustration, though she was somewhat excited inside.
Her mother was still rather strict with her. Now that she was leaving, Sonoko could finally relax; otherwise, she would end up getting scolded.
Compared with her older sister Ayako, Sonoko was scolded by her mother much more often. Since Sonoko lacked Ayako's ambition, she was frequently lectured.
