"Come with me. I'll take you to find Ai." Chen took Ayumi's little hand and led her into the living room.
The moment Chen walked in, he instantly drew everyone's attention. Their eyes were all fixed on the hand holding Ayumi's, and there was something strange in their gazes.
"Did you misunderstand something?" Chen was extremely displeased by the way they were staring at him.
"Misunderstand what? There's no misunderstanding." Vermouth blinked, but the smile at the corner of her lips told Chen that she definitely wasn't thinking anything wholesome.
"Don't judge me with your dirty thoughts. I'm a very upright person," Chen said to Vermouth with a solemn expression.
"Heh heh."
Vermouth gave a little laugh. Those two words contained every possible shade of mockery—everyone knew "heh heh" was hardly a good thing.
"Forget it, I'm not talking to you people anymore. I'm taking Ayumi to find Ai so they can do homework." Chen deliberately stated Ayumi's reason for coming over.
He mainly wanted them to know that he wasn't what they imagined him to be. It was all to preserve his image. ...
Well, actually, he had no image to preserve in the first place. The image Chen wanted to protect simply did not exist.
Ignoring whatever they might be thinking, Chen led Ayumi to Ai's door.
He gave it a push, and the door opened right away. Then Chen saw Ai sitting in front of her computer.
"Why did you come in without knocking?" Ai shot Chen a glare, then looked at Ayumi with confusion on her face.
"Ai, I came to do homework with you. Have you done yours yet?" Ayumi asked Ai.
"No." Ai shook her head. How could she possibly do homework? She had a pile of things she couldn't even finish dealing with.
