The Uchiha Clan Head

"Mm! Thank you, Chen." Mikoto managed a faint smile.

"Now that you've left the Uchiha Clan, Mikoto, you can come stay at my place! My house is pretty big, and it gets lonely living there by myself." Hyuga Shin said with a smile, his eyes full of anticipation.

Mikoto blushed. She had no idea where to go and was feeling completely lost, so she didn't turn down Hyuga Shin's offer.

Who would've thought that this guy, Fugaku Uchiha, would give me a hand? Should I thank him? Maybe the next time we meet, I'll kick him again. That'll be my way of thanking him. Hyuga Shin mused silently.

"Hyuga Shin, just you wait! Our Uchiha Clan will never let you get away with this!"

Fugaku Uchiha's lackeys helped him to his feet, then shouted their threats.

"What's going on?"

As soon as they finished speaking, their teacher, Ueno Juri, arrived. She glared coldly at the Uchiha Clan members.

"Are you the one threatening my students?"

As she spoke, a surge of killing intent erupted from her, instantly enveloping the group. Ueno Juri was a Chunin, after all. She had seen blood and killed before, so naturally she carried a murderous aura.

In an instant, they were trembling with fear.

"It—it was Hyuga Shin. H-he was the one who injured our clan head first," one of the Uchiha Clan nobodies stammered.

At that, Ueno Juri glared at Hyuga Shin, then said sternly, "I'll deal with him myself. But you openly threatened my students. Do you think I don't matter?"

"And who used a ninjutsu here? How dare you use ninjutsu at school?" Ueno Juri pointed at the charred hole, sensing the lingering chakra and glaring furiously.

"Teacher, Fugaku Uchiha did it. He almost killed Hiashi, too!" Nawaki quickly explained.

"Good! I'll report this to Lord Hokage and let him handle it," Ueno Juri said coldly.

"You little brats, get back to class right now! You never make things easy for me!"

After roaring at Hyuga Shin and the others, Ueno Juri went to check Fugaku Uchiha's injuries. She needed to know the full situation before she could protect her student.

If Fugaku Uchiha had died, then no matter how much she wanted to protect Hyuga Shin, there would have been nothing she could do. Fortunately, after checking him over, she found that Fugaku Uchiha was badly injured but not in any life-threatening danger.

She sent Fugaku Uchiha to Konoha Hospital, then went to the Hokage Building to report to Sarutobi Hiruzen.

She still didn't know exactly what had happened, but Ueno Juri reported that Fugaku Uchiha had used ninjutsu at school and nearly killed one of her students.

After reporting to Hokage Sarutobi Hiruzen, Ueno Juri hurried back to find out the full story.

"What exactly happened? Minato, you tell me." When she returned to the classroom, Ueno Juri asked Minato to explain what had happened.

Why Minato? Because he was reliable. If she asked someone else, Ueno Juri might have doubted the truth of their account.

The well-behaved Minato Namikaze answered Ueno Juri's questions and recounted the whole story from beginning to end.

"Hiashi, stand up!" Ueno Juri roared.

"You think you're something now, huh? You know how strong you are. Did you really think a first-year student like you could beat a fifth-year student who was about to graduate?"

Ueno Juri scolded him without holding back. Hiashi felt deeply aggrieved, but he couldn't argue back.

"I know you care about your clan's honor. But if you act this recklessly again, you'll never inherit that honor. You'll just end up dead at the hands of an enemy."

"That's all I have to say. Think about what you've done."

Ueno Juri waved a hand, telling Hiashi to sit down.

Then she turned to Hyuga Shin. "What are you smiling about? Think you've made quite a name for yourself?"

"You nearly kicked a fifth-year student to death. You think that's something to be proud of? Did you think about the consequences? If anything had happened to Fugaku Uchiha today, no one could have protected you," Ueno Juri shouted.

Hyuga Shin lowered his head and said nothing. He didn't resent her.

The way Ueno Juri was acting reminded Hyuga Shin of his homeroom teacher back when he'd still been in school before transmigrating. Her tone of voice and the way she did things were especially similar.

"I won't say any more. I know you won't listen anyway. I just want you to think about the consequences before you act next time."

With a sigh, Ueno Juri put the matter aside for the time being and began her lesson.

Today's lesson was about chakra extraction again. Hyuga Shin wasn't interested, of course, so he lay on his desk and started compressing his chakra.

Because he'd lacked experience before, he now had to spend a long time improving the quality of his chakra.

Hyuga Shin estimated that it would take at least another six months to finish compressing all the chakra in his body.

By then, his Kage Level chakra would have shrunk dozens of times, perhaps even a hundredfold, leaving him with about as much as a Jonin or an elite Jonin.

But when that happened, Hyuga Shin's combat strength wouldn't decrease. It would actually increase quite a bit.

The whole morning passed just like that. When class let out at noon, Ueno Juri paused, then said, "Hyuga Shin, come with me. I need to talk to you."

"Shin!" Mikoto looked at Hyuga Shin with concern.

Hyuga Shin shrugged and gave Mikoto a reassuring look, then followed Ueno Juri out.

Chapter 28: The Uchiha Clan Head

Hyuga Shin followed Ueno Juri to the office and asked with a smile, "What did you want to talk to me about, teacher?"

"You're still smiling?" Ueno Juri was so exasperated that she almost laughed.

"I don't want to argue about who was right or wrong today, but I need to warn you: after you badly injured Fugaku Uchiha, the Uchiha Clan won't let this go so easily."

"So be careful. The Uchiha Clan won't go too far inside Konoha, but remember that they control the Konoha Military Police Force. If they find a pretext to come after you, even I won't be able to help."

Ueno Juri warned Hyuga Shin.

"Understood. Thank you for the warning, teacher." Hyuga Shin thanked Ueno Juri sincerely. He knew who treated him well.

"Sigh!" Ueno Juri sighed. "I don't have any power or influence. I'm just a lowly teacher, and there's not much I can do to help. I can only warn you. You don't need to thank me; it's what a teacher should do."

"If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave."

"Go ahead." Ueno Juri waved a hand.

Hyuga Shin nodded, then walked out, closing the door behind him.

When he returned to the classroom, Nawaki, Inoichi, and the others crowded around him and asked, "What did Ueno-sensei want? Was she going to punish you?"

"Nothing much. She just told me to watch out for the Uchiha Clan," Hyuga Shin said with a casual smile.

"Shin, you'd better be careful. The Uchiha Clan controls the Konoha Military Police Force, and they've always been domineering. It'd be easy for them to pin a charge on you," Shikaku Nara warned.

"Hmph! Hyuga Shin is one of us. If the Uchiha Clan wants to go after him, they'll have to answer to the Hyuga Clan first," Hiashi said with a cold snort.
