The corpses had dried up beyond recognition, almost reduced to nothing but white bones. There was nothing else on them. After examining them for a moment, everyone turned their attention to the altar beneath the corpses.
"Could this be the formation core of the array on the walls of this hall?" Bu Lianshi asked uncertainly.
"It could be, but we have no idea how to activate it..." Jin Yao said from the side.
Formations were truly impossible to predict. Some could be activated merely by channeling spiritual energy into them, while others required specific hand seals or matching formation flags. Some formations were even designed from the outset to be controlled by only a single person. Whether the formation before them could be activated was therefore difficult to say.
No matter what, though, they still had to try.
After working together to move the three corpses aside, Lin Chuan and Zero Burial each sat on the altar. Shi Jin took the remaining empty spot. The situation here was still unclear, and Shi Jin had the highest cultivation among them all. If anything went wrong, he would be able to deal with it.
"I'll count to three. We'll channel spiritual energy into it together," Lin Chuan said to Shi Jin.

"Two!"
"Three!"
Buzz! Brilliant light burst from the three of them as vast amounts of spiritual energy flowed from their bodies and surged toward the altar beneath them.
However, the spiritual energy dispersed the instant it touched the altar. Let alone activating the formation, it did not even enter the engraved patterns.
"It doesn't work!?" Everyone frowned.
If channeling spiritual energy did not work, then activating the formation probably required specific hand seals or formation flags. It would be almost impossible for them to activate it.
