| Shangqing Realm, middle stage | 70 | Broke through a long-standing bottleneck after entering enlightenment through Su Han's explanation of destruction and rebirth. |
Background / History
Shui Yue is the sole female among Qingyun Sect's seven peak masters and presides over Little Bamboo Peak. At the time Su Han arrives at Qingyun Sect, she is known for her cool, detached disposition and initially regards his unusually dense Buddhist energy with suspicion, considering whether he may be connected to the Buddhist Sect. Rather than make an unsupported accusation, she chooses to take him in as her disciple and observe him herself. 7 9
She personally brings Su Han to Little Bamboo Peak and introduces him to Wen Min, her eldest disciple. Although initially guarded, she gradually accepts that Su Han is not a Buddhist spy and begins directly supervising his cultivation of the Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao. 9 17
Su Han's rapid progress repeatedly overturns Shui Yue's expectations. After he reaches the first level of the Yuqing Realm in only seventeen days, she recognizes him as an unprecedented talent and dedicates herself to nurturing him. His mastery of difficult sword arts further convinces her that he may become another figure comparable to Ancestor Qingye. 20 24
Shui Yue later gains enlightenment from Su Han's understanding of lightning, destruction, and rebirth, allowing her to overcome her cultivation bottleneck and reach the middle stage of the Shangqing Realm. 70
Appearance
Shui Yue is a white-clad sword cultivator whose bearing combines the dignity of a peak master with an aloof, refined beauty. Her presence is frequently compared to a proud plum blossom amid snow. 7 108 155
- Cool, noble, and difficult to approach in public. 7 155
- Snow-white skin and deep, bright eyes likened to a clear lake. 155
- Long black hair, usually simply tied back, with loose strands framing her face. 108 155
- Slender, elegant hands described as cool to the touch. 9
- Often wears white robes or dresses befitting a Qingyun Sect peak master. 7 108
Personality
Shui Yue is outwardly stern, reserved, and deeply conscious of propriety. Her initial questioning of Su Han reflects both caution and a willingness to protect a potentially innocent child from unfounded suspicion. 7 17
As a master, she is attentive and demanding. She personally guides Su Han's cultivation, answers his questions, protects his safety, and seeks resources suitable for his extraordinary potential. Her ambitions are tied not only to Su Han's future but also to Little Bamboo Peak's standing and the unfulfilled wish of her own master that the peak produce a Seven Peaks Martial Arts Tournament champion. 18 20 25 60 61
Despite her public severity, Shui Yue becomes noticeably affectionate, proud, and protective toward those close to her. She is particularly enraged when Su Han is injured or threatened, vowing to pursue anyone responsible. 24 84 90 In private, she struggles to reconcile her feelings for Su Han with her identity as his master and concern for his reputation. 86 94 109
She can also be jealous and stubborn, especially when she believes Su Han is giving his attention to others, but she eventually relents when confronted directly. 247 249
