The instant Night Owl flew out the window, the Commerce Minister's heart thudded three times.
These villains did not even spare their own people. They were utterly deranged.
"Don't be nervous."
Akashi smiled. "I'm not some great villain. He was the one who sought his own death just now, so I had no choice but to send him on his way."
"Understood, understood." The Commerce Minister wiped away his sweat, his back already soaked through.
He was no longer young, yet standing before Akashi, he behaved as obediently as a child.
Shouts rang out beyond the door again.
A group of samurai charged toward the study, their heavy footsteps swift and urgent.
He had far more than twelve guards. They took turns standing watch, and only now did the second group barely manage to arrive and rush into the study.
Yet they were immediately met with a furious scolding.
"Get out! Get out!" the Commerce Minister roared. "If I had waited for you, I'd already be dead! What the hell am I paying you for?!"
"We..." The leading samurai was utterly bewildered.
The floor was a complete mess, clearly indicating danger, yet the two people in the study seemed not to have clashed at all. The atmosphere even looked rather harmonious.
At least let us know what happened first!
Before they could speak, the Commerce Minister grabbed a book from the desk and hurled it at them.
"Get out!"
Another furious shout sent the samurai scrambling back out.
Akashi nodded. "You handled that very cleverly."
The Commerce Minister looked awkward. "Can you take the weapon away now?"
"Oh, sorry." A kunai was pressed against his lower back. Akashi casually flicked his wrist and slipped it into his ninja tool pouch. "Your name is Fujiwara Junpei, right? Do you know who
