In the Hokage's office, the Third Hokage was handling documents when he suddenly jumped. The door had been pushed open, and his old friend Danzo stormed in furiously.
"I say—"
"Listen to me!" Danzo cut him off, slamming a palm onto the desk. Though only his left eye was exposed, his gaze remained razor-sharp and aggressively piercing.
The Third Hokage had not seen such a serious expression on him in a long time.
He could not help becoming cautious.
"Recently, underground exchange houses across the ninja world have posted bounties on me. The black market is selling information about me, and rumors are spreading everywhere. Do you know how much the bounty is?"
Danzo gritted his back teeth. "Eighty million ryo!"
With that, he tossed the report to the Third Hokage, his anger still far from spent.
Page after page listed a mountain of crimes, every blame pinned onto his head. Some of the fabricated accusations were things even the Third Hokage could clear him of, but it was useless.
Once someone was on the bounty list, all that mattered was whether they were worth money.
Even if people knew Danzo was an elder of Konoha, rarely left seclusion, and possessed formidable strength, great rewards always drew desperate men.
