Moving In

Xu Qing grinned foolishly at the ceiling. He seemed to have praised his own good looks again, and felt a little embarrassed.

"But come on, it's the truth! I am handsome. What's so impossible about everyone loving me? Xu Qing, you're the most handsome, most dashing kid around!" Xu Qing muttered to himself, deliberately speaking very loudly.

"Heh heh..."

He laughed and wriggled around on the bed like a worm.

A little while later, a notification sounded. Qin Lin had sent him a message: "I'm downstairs. Come down."

"Finally!" Xu Qing jumped off the bed, immediately scooped up his bedding, grabbed his suitcase, and hurried out of the dorm.

Qin Lin briskly put his belongings in the car, then gestured. "Get in."

Xu Qing climbed in, and Qin Lin immediately started the SUV and drove away with him.

"I'm used to driving this kind of SUV," Qin Lin explained on the way, seeing him constantly looking around inside the car.

"Oh," Xu Qing said with a nod, then turned his gaze away.

Before long—less than ten minutes later—the SUV entered the university district and drove all the way into its central area.

A striking high-rise stood there. It was very luxurious, with more than a hundred floors, and looked like a five-star hotel.

A residential complex had been built around it, and professional security guards stood watch at the entrance.

Anyone entering or leaving had their identity checked by the surveillance system. Security was extremely tight.

"We're here. My place is upstairs." Qin Lin parked the car.

Xu Qing got out, holding his bedding in one hand, and looked up at the high-rise before him.

It couldn't compare to the building that housed the Alliance Mall, but it was a residential tower, after all. It was already quite high-end.

"Let's go." Qin Lin pulled Xu Qing's suitcase and headed inside.

Xu Qing hurried after her.

Like the Alliance Mall, the first floor was a reception hall, though it wasn't nearly as large. Counters lined both sides, where pretty young women were working.

"Sister Qin, you're back early today," one of them greeted her with a smile.

Qin Lin smiled and nodded. "Mm."

"Is this your friend?" The young woman looked at Xu Qing with a smile.

"Mm. He'll be staying with me for a while. His name is Xu Qing." Qin Lin introduced him briefly, then led him into the elevator.

As the elevator doors closed, the young woman watched with curiosity. "That's the first time I've seen Sister Qin bring a friend over."

Qin Lin was a teacher at Jiangnan University and a War General Level Warrior with the Limit Martial Arts Hall. The staff here all knew that, so they treated her with great respect.

Qin Lin had lived here for several years, but no one had ever seen her bring a friend home. She had always been alone.

It was hard not to be surprised that she'd brought someone back with her this time.

When the elevator doors opened, Xu Qing followed Qin Lin out.

At one of the doors, Qin Lin unlocked it with her fingerprint and led Xu Qing inside.

The place was huge. The living room alone was spacious, at least eighty square meters. Even with a sofa and tea table, there was still plenty of room.

"Have a seat. What would you like to drink?" Qin Lin asked.

"Fruit... Coffee is fine," Xu Qing said. He'd been about to ask for juice, but changed his mind at the last second.

Qin Lin smiled, opened the fridge, and poured him a glass of juice.

"Thanks." Xu Qing's face flushed slightly. She'd seen right through him.

After he finished his juice, Qin Lin showed him around the place. "This whole floor is mine. There are lots of rooms, a gym, and an open-air balcony. I can fill the balcony with water and turn it into a pool..."

Xu Qing spent more than half an hour touring the place before he finally got a good look at Qin Lin's home.

"What do you think?" Qin Lin asked with a smile.

"It's huge and very elegant. Teacher Qin, you really know how to enjoy life," Xu Qing replied.

Hearing his answer, Qin Lin laughed. Still, sometimes she felt the place was too empty.

She'd never lacked admirers, but she'd never been interested in any of them. Before today, she'd never brought a man here. Xu Qing was the first.

"Pick whichever room you like," Qin Lin said.

Xu Qing nodded, then chose a room near the balcony.

"All right. My room is next door. Looks like we both like bright, airy spaces," Qin Lin said with a faint smile.

"Huh? Your room is next door? Then I'd better pick another one." Xu Qing felt awkward.

But Qin Lin waved a hand. "It's fine. The soundproofing here is excellent. Even if you stay next door, you won't hear a thing."

As she spoke, she carried Xu Qing's things into the room.

It was already fully furnished, so he could move right in, but Qin Lin still replaced everything with Xu Qing's belongings.

"No, that's not what I meant..."

Xu Qing watched as Qin Lin swiftly arranged his luggage. The words that had risen to his throat died there.

"Mm. Rest here for a while. You can rearrange things yourself if you want." Qin Lin said that to him, then closed the door behind her as she left.

Outside, Qin Lin leaned against the wall, tension showing on her delicate face.

"Phew. Does this mean I have a chance?" Qin Lin pressed a hand to her chest. Her heart was pounding so hard it felt as if she had a loudspeaker inside her, and she could hear every beat.

She'd never been this excited and nervous before. It was unlike any kind of nervousness she'd ever felt.

Inside the room, Xu Qing sat on the soft bed and messaged Xu Xin. "Sister Xin, guess where I am right now?"

"At Teacher Qin's place," Xu Xin replied instantly.

"You guessed way too fast. That's no fun," Xu Qing grumbled.

"Take care of yourself," Xu Xin reminded him.

"Sister Xin, you've got it wrong. You should be saying that to Teacher Qin. I'm a grown man, after all. Who knows, one of these days I might turn into a big bad wolf. Heh heh," Xu Qing replied.

"...All right. The big bad wolf should take care of himself, too."

Xu Xin knew Xu Qing hadn't understood what she meant at all. But that was exactly what she'd expected from Xu Qing—her silly little brother.

Lying on the bed, Xu Qing still couldn't quite believe it. He'd actually moved into his teacher's home.

"Whatever. I'm here now, so I might as well stay. As long as I'm shameless and don't feel awkward, everyone else will be the awkward one. Besides, I'm a man. What's wrong with being a little thick-skinned?" Xu Qing thought, then closed his eyes.

He soon fell asleep.

When Qin Lin knocked on the door and got no response, she simply pushed it open and went inside. To her surprise, Xu Qing was asleep.

Looking at Xu Qing's adorable sleeping face, Qin Lin couldn't resist reaching out to touch him.
