In a completely sealed secret chamber within the underground base of Root, designated as a forbidden zone by Shimura Danzō, a strange banner stood atop a central altar. It was two meters tall, its flagpole radiating a bone-like jade luster, with a purple fabric base embroidered with dark golden runes.
The stone door of the chamber slowly creaked open. Shimura Danzō, his face cold and still bearing traces of lingering anger, stood at the threshold before slowly stepping inside.
As Shimura Danzō entered, the stone door closed once more, leaving him alone within the chamber.
Shimura Danzō walked up to the altar, his gaze fixed intently upon the strange banner that exuded an ominous aura.
After a few seconds of silence, Shimura Danzō spoke: "You were right. That short-sighted bastard Hiruzen chose to negotiate with Iwagakure. That man! He intends to step down to appease the village's dissent, and he has recommended Minato Namikaze as his successor for Hokage!"
By the time he finished speaking, Shimura Danzō's expression had turned ferocious, his words ground out through clenched teeth.
As his voice fell, the banner on the altar moved without wind, and a translucent figure emerged from its surface.
Shiraishi floated in the air, a playful smile on his handsome face as he looked down at Shimura Danzō.
Shiraishi was a transmigrator, and he had transmigrated twice.
His first transmigration occurred after he bought a jade bead of unknown origin at an antique market on Earth.
Under the influence of the jade bead, his soul transmigrated into a world of cultivation, where he became a demonic cultivator and inherited the legacy of the ancient Nine Nether Sect.
The Nine Nether Sect was one of the holy lands of the ancient demonic path, and its signature artifact—the Ten Thousand Soul Banner—had stirred up bloodbaths in the cultivation world and suppressed righteous sects on several occasions.
Having obtained the legacy, Shiraishi naturally chose to refine this supreme demonic treasure.
However, unlike some deranged demonic cultivators who would blood-sacrifice an entire mortal city at the drop of a hat, Shiraishi took a different approach.
He identified a differentiated track, achieved value conversion through the simple reuse of potential energy accumulation, found his niche through unique leverage points, realized industry co-construction and carrier integration, and through a focused strategy of combining points and lines, pinpointed the refined detonation point of a red-ocean industry, thereby achieving a multi-party win-win.
In short, Shiraishi did not go on a killing spree like most anthropomorphic demonic cultivators to refine his artifact through blood sacrifices; instead, he found a decaying dynasty in the southwest of the continent that lacked significant cultivation forces.
There, he shouted, "The blue sky is dead, the yellow sky shall rise; the year is Jiazi, and the world shall be prosperous," and ignited a magnificent peasant uprising.
Under Shiraishi's secret guidance and assistance, this peasant uprising successfully overthrew the rule of the corrupt dynasty. A large number of nobles, aristocrats, and powerful clans were wiped out, and a brand-new regime rose on this land once filled with oppression.
Shiraishi also used this peasant uprising to harvest hundreds of thousands of living souls. Not only did he successfully refine the Ten Thousand Soul Banner, but he also used this to form a top-grade Golden Core, becoming a Golden Core cultivator.
Unfortunately, the day the Ten Thousand Soul Banner was completed, it attracted a massive lightning tribulation. Although Shiraishi survived the tribulation by relying on secret techniques from his legacy, it drew the attention of the righteous path and the covetous eyes of other demonic cultivators.
In the days that followed, Shiraishi was attacked by both righteous and demonic forces, both openly and covertly. Although he could fight Nascent Soul cultivators to a standstill with the power of the Ten Thousand Soul Banner, he was ultimately overwhelmed by numbers. To escape, he chose to use a forbidden technique from his legacy, detonating his Golden Core to severely injure his attackers while his own Yin Spirit took refuge within the Ten Thousand Soul Banner.
It was during this self-detonation that Shiraishi activated the jade bead in his mind, which had remained dormant since it brought him there.
Carried by the jade bead, he transmigrated again, arriving in the world of Naruto, where he was found by Shimura Danzō a year ago.
"If a person wants to realize their ideals, they should never pin their hopes on others. I am sorry that you have only realized this now." Shiraishi descended to the ground and stood before Shimura Danzō.
Facing Shiraishi, who appeared in a purely spiritual form, Shimura Danzō frowned slightly and stepped back half a pace, subtly increasing the distance between them.
He was deeply wary of this entity that claimed to be the spirit of a Six Paths Artifact, especially after witnessing the banner's ability to capture souls.
Shiraishi looked at Shimura Danzō, ignoring his small movements. "So, what do you want from me today? The Darkness of Konoha, Shimura Danzō."
Shimura Danzō looked at Shiraishi, his heart filled with hesitation and struggle, but driven by his extreme desire for the position of Hokage, he gritted his teeth and said: "Is the Reincarnation Technique you mentioned truly feasible?"
Facing Shimura Danzō's question, a smile appeared on Shiraishi's face. "Look, I told you long ago that with your status and age, you have absolutely no chance of touching the position of Hokage."
"You are the Darkness of Konoha; you represent the deepest shadows of this village. You think you are protecting it, but in reality, you are nothing more than the Third Hokage's black glove."
As he spoke, Shiraishi walked up to Shimura Danzō again and asked with a hint of sarcasm: "You are like a chamber pot. When the Third Hokage needs you, you are his precious treasure, but once used, you are tossed into a dark corner, covered in filth, unfit for the public eye."
"Enough!" Shimura Danzō roared, his breathing becoming rapid, his chest heaving violently.
Shiraishi describing him as a dirty chamber pot was something Shimura Danzō could never accept.
"Am I wrong?" Shiraishi asked, feigning surprise as he looked at Shimura Danzō.
"The contributions I have made to Konoha will be judged by history," Shimura Danzō said coldly.
"History?" Shiraishi laughed out loud as if he had heard the greatest joke. He clutched his stomach with one hand and pointed at Shimura Danzō with the other. "Do you have any descendants? Whether biological or political, do you have any?"
Shimura Danzō's face grew even uglier.
"The Root under your command is nothing more than a weapon you forged without a mind. They are useful weapons in your hands, but if someone else were to take control, would they not be just as useful?" Shiraishi continued.
"When you die, who will promote your achievements in the shadows? Will you rely on those mindless weapons of Root?"
Hearing this, Shimura Danzō gradually calmed down. He looked directly at Shiraishi, a flash of determination in his eyes.
"The Reincarnation Technique—can you ensure that nothing will go wrong?"
Shiraishi leaped up and sat on the altar, his legs dangling over the edge as he swayed them slightly. He smiled and said: "You only need to bring me the person, and I can complete the reincarnation for you."
"I will bring the person. I hope you do not disappoint me," Shimura Danzō said calmly.
"Very well. Then shouldn't we discuss my conditions? After all, my principle has always been fair trade, just like our previous cooperation," Shiraishi said.
"What do you want?" Shimura Danzō asked warily.
"A young, fresh body that satisfies me, and an identity in Konoha that allows me to move freely without any issues," Shiraishi said with a smile.
Shimura Danzō frowned deeply. Since he obtained this strange banner a year ago, he had been trying to truly master it.
But to this day, his efforts had yielded no progress; instead, he had gradually fallen into a disadvantageous position through their repeated exchanges, becoming the one in need.
"The position of Hokage is right before your eyes. Do you really want to watch the fruits of your life's work fall into the hands of a young man?"
Seeing Shimura Danzō hesitate, Shiraishi continued to tempt him. "You should know very well that it is absolutely impossible for you to become Hokage as Shimura Danzō."
"But with a simple technique, by discarding this scarred, aging body, you could directly become the Hokage of Konoha, regain a youthful body, have a beautiful wife, and no one would ever discover the truth."
Shimura Danzō couldn't help but swallow hard; the temptation Shiraishi offered was simply too great.
