Background

Gui Mengguan was born to Gui Mei and Yue Guan after they consumed immortal herbs and became a couple. Although born into the Douluo world, he retained memories of another life and quickly accepted that he had been reincarnated. He initially intended to rely on knowledge of the original story to avoid Spirit Hall's future tragedy and live comfortably. 19 20

His name was chosen by Gui Mei: he bears Gui Mei's surname, while the character ''Guan'' honors Yue Guan. The character ''Meng'' was chosen for his soft and delicate appearance as an infant. 19

As a child, Gui Mengguan used his prior-life yoga foundation and flexibility to maintain the image of a naturally gifted prodigy. He was admitted to Spirit Hall's Genius Enlightenment Class alongside Tang San, Qian Gujue, and Oupai, where he discovered that Qian Gujue and Oupai were also reincarnators. 21 22

The three reincarnators recognized that their world had diverged radically from the original plot, including Yue Guan's altered gender, the existence of Qian Chongguang, and Tang Hao's status as a wanted traitor. They subsequently approached Spirit Hall's Tang San to test whether he was another transmigrator or the original protagonist. 22 23

At his martial soul awakening, he revealed twin martial souls of exceptional quality: the Other Shore Flower and the Undead Jade Seal. Both were identified as ultimate control-type, god-level embryos, immediately establishing him as an extraordinary control-type prospect. 26

He later joined Qian Gujue and Oupai in covertly investigating other suspected transmigrators and regressors within Spirit Hall. The trio concealed their own identities while treating unknown outsiders as a potential threat. 66 67 68

After three years of secluded cultivation, Gui Mengguan reached level fifty-two and became a Soul King. His Soul Core foundation and Worship Hall spiritual-cultivation methods gave him exceptionally refined spiritual power and microscopic control over his martial souls. 74

Personality

Gui Mengguan is calculating and opportunistic. He used an ancient text as a pretext to convince the elders to visit the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well, seeking access to its immortal herbs without openly revealing his prior knowledge. 48

He is cautious around fellow transmigrators, preferring to keep a low profile rather than expose himself through direct conflict. 66 67 68

He is particularly wary of outsiders who treat the Douluo world and its inhabitants as disposable game pieces. After observing transmigrators turn to mutual slaughter in pursuit of power, he regarded the instability and desperation of the transmigrator community as a serious danger. 111 112 138

He can also be notably ruthless. After identifying Bu Le, E Kao, and Tianya as criminals, he devised and carried out a plan to torture confessions from them, then manipulated the trio into repeatedly harassing Yu Xiaogang for money. 84 85 89

Despite this ruthlessness, Gui Mengguan is strongly loyal to his sworn brothers. He supported Spirit Hall's Tang San after the latter's mixed human-and-soul-beast heritage was publicly exposed and opposed handing him to the Flame Will Dynasty. 405

Gui Mengguan is capable of reassessing his own assumptions when events prove them flawed. During the beastman conflict, he acknowledged that he and his companions had focused too heavily on a human “protagonist” perspective and failed to account for the Soul Beast faction producing its own extraordinary leader. 434

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Gui Mengguan possesses two ultimate control-type martial souls, each described as a god-level embryo. 26

  • Other Shore Flower — manifests as a crimson flower with layered, flame-like petals edged in faint gold at awakening. By Chapter 186, it appears blood-red, its petals carrying ghostly deathly aura and the chilling silence of the Yellow Springs. 26 186
  • Undead Jade Seal — manifests as a pitch-black seal by Chapter 186. It bears twisted runes and emits immense righteous energy capable of suppressing surrounding yin and evil aura. 186
  • Their awakening pressure can suppress top-tier plant martial souls and affect even Titled Douluo. 26
  • Their control-oriented nature makes Gui Mengguan a highly regarded prospective control-type soul master. 26
  • The two opposing martial-soul auras—deathly energy and righteous energy—can coexist and fuse without conflict. 186

Soul Core

After absorbing the Primordial Unity Immortal Herb, Gui Mengguan reached level twenty and formed a Soul Core. 61

  • The Soul Core strengthened his spiritual power. 61
  • It improved his precision and control over his twin martial souls. 61
  • By the time he reached level fifty-two, his spiritual power had become nearly tangible, and his control over his martial souls had reached a microscopic level. 74
  • His spiritual strength was sufficiently refined that even Titled Douluo would struggle to suppress him on the spiritual level. 74

Polar Static Domain

A Martial Soul Fusion Skill formed from the Other Shore Flower and Undead Jade Seal. 186

  • Freezes time within its effect. 186
  • Immobilized the injured Yao Wuji before he could escape. 186
  • Created the opening for Gui Mengguan to kill Yao Wuji with one touch and destroy the threatening black pottery jars. 186
  • Even a temporary level ninety-five Soul Power enhancement could not overcome the domain's absolute stillness. 186
  • The domain can be disrupted by power on a divine level; a single strand of divine sense shattered it and severely injured Gui Mengguan. 384

Imperial Seal and Soul Generals

Gui Mengguan's seal-type martial soul is also referred to as the Imperial Seal in later events. 375

  • He collected lingering souls from Douluo Hall's graveyard within the seal and nourished them rather than allowing them to disperse. 375
  • The Undead Jade Seal can absorb dead souls from other soul-controlling artifacts, including the Ten Thousand Souls Banner and Giga Battlenizer. 376
  • Souls under the seal's command manifest as disciplined ghost soldiers and generals with a clear hierarchy rather than as a disordered undead horde. 376
  • He could summon three black-armored soul generals, though two were destroyed amid the final tournament stage's sword-qi aftermath. 379 385
  • During the battle against the Double-Jawed Beast, the Imperial Seal activated on its own and released the soul remnants of Profound Weight Douluo, Elemental Douluo, and Tai Tan Douluo. 470
  • The three Titled Douluo remnants could burn their soul flames to solidify their phantom forms and fight with strength approaching their former full combat capacity. 471

Martial Soul Extraction

Gui Mengguan possesses an unidentified means of forcibly removing another person's martial soul.

  • After interrogating Yu Xiaogang, he used a stone-like object or method to tear the Golden Holy Dragon martial soul from Yu Xiaogang's body. 411 418
  • The precise nature, origin, and limitations of this extraction ability remain undisclosed. 411 418

Strategy and Negotiation

Gui Mengguan demonstrates practical judgment under pressure.

  • Negotiated with Dugu Bo when a confrontation risked exposing the children to Jade Phosphor Serpent Emperor Poison. He proposed that Spirit Hall owe Dugu Bo a favor in exchange for several immortal herbs. 53
  • Coordinated with Qian Gujue and Oupai to investigate suspected transmigrators operating within Spirit Hall. 66 68
  • Remained calm while considering ways to counter Yao Wuji and his system. 182
  • Recognized the danger of Yao Wuji's jars draining Tang San's fortune and recommended avoiding a direct clash until stronger Spirit Hall forces arrived. 176 178
  • Planned the operation to lure Tang Hao's Tang San from hiding by having Li Pu and Xiao Wu pose as an intimate couple, exploiting Tang San's possessiveness and jealousy. 413 414 416
  • Participated in Spirit Hall's response to the Flame Will Dynasty's accusations against Tang San and helped prevent his sworn brother from acting rashly during the inquiry assembly. 405 420
  • Identified the beastman legion's tunnel assault on Leighton City as a feint intended to draw away the defenders while the main force infiltrated the city underground. 461

Campaign Against Yu Xiaogang

When Yu Xiaogang is later arrested after fighting Tang San, Gui Mengguan interrogates him in the Inspection Hall and extracts information about Yu Xiaogang's bargain with Voldemort. During the final stage, Gui Mengguan's Polar Static Domain is shattered by divine sense, leaving him severely injured and unable to fight until Tang San treats him with the Blue Silver Emperor and Mysterious Heaven Skill. At the public inquiry, Gui Mengguan prevents Tang San from rashly attacking Xiang Kui after the general escalates his accusations into personal slander against Bibi Dong. 420

During the battle against the Double-Jawed Beast, Gui Mengguan's Imperial Seal independently releases three preserved Titled Douluo souls: Profound Weight Douluo, Elemental Douluo, and Tai Tan Douluo.
