Watching Yahiko fall to the ground and be pierced through by the other man's sword, Nagato let out a heart-wrenching scream. He stood there in a daze, blood vessels rising in his Rinnegan as cold, despairing chakra radiated from his body.
Some of the ninja noticed his condition and tried to sneak up on him from behind, only to crash into an invisible wall the instant they approached. Sent flying backward by the tremendous force, blood streamed from their seven orifices; their internal organs had already been shattered.
"Ah... ah... ah..."
A shrill cry came from Nagato's mouth. Throwing back his head, he screamed as if he had gone mad, scenes of his past with Yahiko flashing through his mind.
"You all deserve to die!" Nagato's voice sounded like that of a demon from hell. A terrifying expression appeared in his Rinnegan as he formed a simple hand seal and pressed one palm to the ground.
In truth, he had no idea what kind of ninjutsu he was using. He had merely unleashed it instinctively.
Back when he was with Yahiko, he had always deliberately avoided using his Rinnegan. He believed they were cursed eyes. No one understood the power contained within them better than he did, and it was precisely because he understood that he feared them.
He did not dare release the power within those eyes, afraid that once it was unleashed, it would bring terrible consequences.
Moreover, Yahiko had always been by his side back then. So Nagato had subconsciously chosen to avoid it all, believing that as long as he followed Yahiko, as long as he helped Yahiko, everything would turn out fine.
But now, his best friend and elder brother was dead—killed right before his eyes, without even having the chance to leave behind
