The Jade Emperor sat there, already extremely irritated. It was one thing for this crowd of immortals to hollow out his authority, but when trouble arose, they could not resolve it either. That displeased him even more.
"My lords!" the Jade Emperor suddenly shouted. The clamoring immortals all fell silent and looked toward the Jade Emperor, who had not spoken for a long while.
The Jade Emperor said, "I am somewhat weary. I shall return to rest for a moment."
Back in his bedchamber, the Jade Emperor sat there, seething with anger.
Barefoot Immortal came to see the Jade Emperor.
"Your Majesty need not be angry. They have always been like this," Barefoot Immortal consoled him. "Now that Yang Jian is about to marry, the gods of the Heavenly Court are all dissatisfied. Yet Your Majesty must secretly show goodwill toward him."
"Hmm?" The Jade Emperor looked at Barefoot Immortal in confusion. "Yang Jian has been so defiant and has even violated heavenly law. Show goodwill toward him? Impossible!"
Barefoot Immortal said, "Your Majesty, the current situation is difficult. We must act according to circumstances. If we wish to regain power, we must rely on other forces. Yang Jian is Your Majesty's own nephew, and the foremost God of War of the Three Realms. If he can be made to help Your Majesty, would that not give Your Majesty another powerful source of support? Once Marshal Canopy establishes himself below, what need have we to fear from these gods?"
The Jade Emperor frowned and pondered. What Barefoot Immortal said made a great deal of sense, but...
"But because of Yaoji, Yang Jian and I are already like fire and water, unable to coexist. Will he help me?" The Jade Emperor was deeply worried.
Although he had held little real power
