The man emerged from the shadows. He looked very young, no more than twenty or so, but his eyes were ancient, carrying the weariness of countless years.
"Who are you?"
"I am the Ancestor's personal guard. You may call me Darkness," the man said flatly.
Darkness—what an unusual name.
Uchiha Shin said, "Where is my friend?"
Darkness replied, "Your friend is from the Dragon Clan. The Ancestor has taken her to the place of sealing. In three days, he will refine that woman and turn her into his own power."
Uchiha Shin's heart skipped a beat. That absolutely could not happen.
"Brother Darkness, please pass a message to the Ancestor. Ask him to release my friend," Uchiha Shin said.
Darkness shook his head. "The Ancestor bears a deep hatred for the Dragon Clan. Any Dragon Clan member he encounters will be killed. Even if the Four Sea Dragon Kings came today, it would be no different."
"However, since neither of you is a member of the Dragon Clan, the Ancestor can spare you this time. But the two of you must remain here and pay respects to the Ancestor for three days before leaving."
