Maitreya Buddha smiled from the side. "I've noticed that Golden Cicada has seemed somewhat unusual lately."
Tathagata said, "It's perfectly normal for him to be unusual. Every time my disciple returns, he debates Buddhist teachings with me. To be honest, some of his insights into Buddhism truly astonish me. He is highly capable and possesses exceptional comprehension. He is unprecedented within our Buddhist sect."
"If Junior Nephew Golden Cicada grows powerful in the future, perhaps the position of Future Buddha could be given to him." Maitreya Buddha smiled faintly.
But Tathagata glanced at Maitreya Buddha. "Venerable Maitreya, do not jest. Though Golden Cicada is indeed capable, he is still far inferior to you, Venerable."
Maitreya Buddha shook his head. "Venerable, given enough time, Golden Cicada will certainly surpass me. I have no attachment whatsoever to the position of Future Buddha. If Golden Cicada possesses the ability, I will willingly yield it to him. I have no other intentions in doing this. It is only for the flourishing of our Buddhist sect, for Buddhist teachings to reach all people, and for all living beings to escape the sea of suffering."
Tathagata turned around and quietly looked at Maitreya Buddha. "Venerable Maitreya."
