Jade Ding Zhenren sat down, drank two cups of wine, then glanced at Taiyi Zhenren again.
"Senior Brother, among all of us fellow disciples, you have always been the boldest—fearless, daring to do anything."
Jade Ding Zhenren said.
"Back during the Investiture of the Gods War, Nezha caused so much trouble, yet you never worried in the slightest. Instead, you protected him at every turn, and sometimes even secretly instructed him to deal with others."
"But why have you become so timid and hesitant now? Have you lost your fighting spirit?"
Taiyi Zhenren laughed heartily. "Nezha is my disciple. If he was in danger, could I, as his master, simply stand by and watch? Protecting him was a master's responsibility."
"Then how do you explain defying Master's orders back then, confronting those fellow disciples who had left the Daoist Sect, and even wanting to take their lives?" Jade Ding Zhenren asked again.
Taiyi Zhenren could not help but freeze for a moment as he recalled those events from long ago.
At that time, the Investiture of the Gods War had only just ended, yet several of their fellow disciples had decided to leave the Daoist Sect and join the Western Buddhist Sect.
Taiyi Zhenren and the others had been both astonished and angered.
All of them had wanted to stop those disciples and question them, but Yuanshi Tianzun had issued an order forbidding anyone from interfering.
But Taiyi Zhenren had been furious. Defying Yuanshi Tianzun's order, he sought out those fellow disciples and tried to make them turn back.
Yet Cihang Daoren and the others had refused. They said they wished to cultivate Buddhist teachings, because no matter what they cultivated, as long as it could increase their strength and save the common people, they were willing to do it.
