Uchiha Shin looked at Jialuo Ye and felt a little wistful. Though Jialuo Ye was now the deputy prime minister of the Demon King Palace, he was surely unhappy there.
After all, he was a man of the Buddhist Sect and still longed for the Buddha in his heart. Back then, the reason he had colluded with the Carefree Great Emperor to attack the Buddhist Sect was not to deal with Tathagata, but with Maitreya Buddha.
Though he knew he had been wrong, there was no longer any way back. He could only follow the Carefree Great Emperor to the Demon King Palace.
"Do you still want to return to Spirit Mountain?" Uchiha Shin asked.
"Even if I wanted to return, I could not," Jialuo Ye said. "What is lost is lost, like time that has flowed away. You cannot undo it."
Uchiha Shin nodded, not knowing what to say.
"Mystic Spirit King, do you think it is better to cultivate Buddhism, or to be a demon?" Jialuo Ye suddenly asked.
Uchiha Shin could not help but freeze. "Why would Senior Brother ask that?"
"When I was in the Buddhist Sect, I was like Golden Cicada—I favored Mahayana Buddhism. Yet although I liked Mahayana Buddhism, I could not put it into practice. How was that any different from never having learned it at all?"
Jialuo Ye spoke.
"I might as well be a demon, free from those rules and able to do whatever I want."
Uchiha Shin smiled. "Senior Brother, whether demons or anything else, all things that exist in this world have a reason for existing. The Buddhist Sect and demons each have their own principles. As long as your conscience is clear, being a Buddha or being a demon is much the same."
"Much the same?" Jialuo Ye
