But after making a full circuit, neither of them found any trace of the red fox.
Red Boy looked somewhat anxious and called out loudly.
Uchiha Shin climbed atop a tall boulder and looked around. The surroundings were empty, without a single trace of it.
Slowly closing his eyes, Uchiha Shin activated the Nine-Rank Celestial Immortal Art and sensed the situation around him.
Before long, Uchiha Shin sensed the red fox's location. His figure flashed, and he arrived beneath a large boulder, where he spotted a red fox in a crevice.
Seeing the red fox, Uchiha Shin froze for a moment. For some reason, it felt familiar, but no matter how closely he examined it, he could not recognize it.
Maybe it was just an illusion.
"Little fox, come out quickly. Your master is anxiously looking for you," Uchiha Shin said with a smile.
Yet the red fox only huddled inside, trembling as though it were terrified of Uchiha Shin.
Uchiha Shin did not force it out. Instead, he called Red Boy over.
Red Boy rushed over and picked up the little fox.
"Thank you, Uncle," Red Boy said with a smile.
"Kid, you shouldn't be playing outside alone. Where is your home? I'll take you back."
"My home is in that cave dwelling ahead."
The two headed forward. Along the way, the little boy kept talking to Uchiha Shin nonstop, like a chatterbox.
But everything he talked about was related to the red fox.
Uchiha Shin glanced at the red fox in Red Boy's arms. The fox hid in Red Boy's embrace and refused to look at Uchiha Shin, seemingly especially afraid of him.
