They had just heard Tathagata Buddha and Maitreya Buddha speak of Dipankara Buddha, and they still felt somewhat worried.
But Tathagata Buddha smiled. "Lord Lao, there is no need to worry too much about this. Although my master remains neutral and does not wish for me to use any underhanded methods against Xuanzang, then I simply will not. I will set obstacles along the road he travels and add to his tribulations.
"My master absolutely will not interfere in this matter. Xuanzang's journey westward to attain the Dao cannot possibly be smooth all the way through, merely going through the motions. He will certainly have to undergo countless hardships. Since it is a journey westward to attain the Dao, there must be many obstacles. Otherwise, could it still be called attaining the Dao?
"So the three of you need not worry too much. Even if I set even greater trials before him, my master will not casually intervene. On the contrary, he will be willing to watch Xuanzang face these trials and see whether Xuanzang truly has the ability to overcome them."
After hearing this, the Three Pure Ones all smiled. This was rather interesting.
In truth, if Tathagata Buddha truly did not personally act and merely set trials in Xuanzang's path, Dipankara Buddha might also want to create some trials to test Xuanzang.
After all, Xuanzang's westward journey to attain the Dao was no easy matter. Without trials, he would not be able to attain the Dao.
After conversing for a while longer, Tathagata Buddha brought Maitreya Buddha back to Spirit Mountain.
