Interrogating for Intelligence

In the moment before he lost consciousness, he had still been awake. He remembered that he had been engaged in an intense battle with the Uchiha Clan Head, one that had already reached its most heated point.

Then, the entire world suddenly slowed down. It seemed as though someone else had arrived, but he knew nothing of what happened afterward.

"Rinnegan?" Suddenly, he seemed to remember something. In that final instant, he appeared to have seen the newcomer's eyes—the three rings within those pale pupils. There was no way he could have mistaken them.

Unfortunately, even though he knew who had struck against him, he still did not understand how he had been captured.

Time-based ocular techniques were far too strange. Before truly encountering them, it was difficult to imagine that they were abilities closer to rules themselves. The previous time delay had been manageable enough. No matter how slowly time flowed, it was still moving. Moreover, chakra was a remarkably wondrous kind of energy, allowing people to remain conscious within slowed time without their thoughts becoming sluggish. This was also one of the major reasons Shin's time ability had previously seemed so lackluster.

But when time stopped completely, it was different. That was suppression at the level of rules. Unless one's strength could surpass the opponent's, or one had some other means of resisting it, defeat and death were the only possible outcomes.

And objectively speaking, Otsutsuki Guiyan's loss had been somewhat unjust. At the time, he had gathered all his strength into a single attack aimed at Uchiha Madara, leaving himself at his weakest. Then Shin had suddenly appeared and struck without hesitation. It had been more akin to a sneak attack.

His luck had been poor, and Shin had happened to be enraged. With the time ocular
