Shin tracked down the Sanctuary and bypassed Athena’s barrier to appear in the Pope’s Hall, seeking to trade the Cancer Gold Cloth. He left the Pope weighing Shin’s threat to destroy the Sanctuary if peaceful negotiations failed.

  • Shin decided that trading the Cancer Gold Cloth would benefit him more than wearing it and used the Rinnegan to locate the Sanctuary.
  • Shin examined Athena’s barrier, found a way through it, and teleported directly into the Pope’s Hall.
  • The Pope recognized Shin and demanded to know how he had entered the Sanctuary.
  • Shin explained that beings from other worlds could possess abilities beyond the Pope’s assumptions, then proposed making a deal over the Cancer Cloth.
  • The Pope rejected the idea that Shin could negotiate as an equal, and Shin pointed to Shaka’s injuries and threatened to erase the Sanctuary if they chose war.

Ch. 1609Greater Chaos

Ch. 1614Plan

Xuan revealed that he had deliberately manipulated Su Huanzhen and the others into joining the assault on Seireitei, turning the battle against Aizen and himself into a trap. As Aizen fused completely with the Hōgyoku and evolved again, he faced the gathered Xiantian fighters with a newly immortal body and overwhelming strength.

  • Xuan explained that he had deliberately exposed his crude scheme so the people of Pili World would trace it back to him and Aizen, then come after them together during the attack on Seireitei.
  • With Pili World joining the battle, Seireitei recovered its footing, while Barragan held off multiple powerful opponents with his decay ability.
  • Aizen confronted Su Huanzhen, One Page Book, and the others alongside Xuan, then underwent a third evolution as the Hōgyoku fused completely with him.
  • Su Huanzhen struck Aizen with Mountain-Shaking, River-Trembling Xuanhuang Art, but Aizen dispersed the palm force with a casual sword swing.

  • One Page Book pierced Aizen’s chest and knocked away the Hōgyoku, but it returned to Aizen and healed his wound; Aizen trapped One Page Book in Black Coffin.
  • As Yamamoto Genryusai prepared to attack, a white lotus rose where Su Huanzhen had fallen, and Shin recognized the Three Oaths of Heaven’s Question.
  • A voice from the lotus recited an oath to mankind, calling for the mortal world to return to reason.

Ch. 1617Chapter Fifty-Six: Two Oaths to the Earth

Su Huanzhen’s first oath failed to seriously injure Gen or Aizen, so he unleashed a second attack as One Page Book and Yamamoto Genryusai joined the fight. Gen escaped into the Long River of time as their combined powers shook the continent; far away, a bald man and his mechanical-bodied disciple felt the tremor at their camp.

  • Su Huanzhen’s first oath struck Gen and Aizen, but Gen used his seven rings and spatial abilities to avoid serious injury, while Aizen rapidly recovered through the Hōgyoku.
  • Shaken that his Three Oaths of Heaven’s Question had failed, Su Huanzhen unleashed the Second Oath to the Earth, sending twin chaotic lotuses crashing down.
  • One Page Book broke free from the Black Coffin and used Lotus Sacred Path Opens Heaven’s Light, while Yamamoto Genryusai attacked with Destructive Art Ninety-Six: One Blade Cremation.
  • Gen withdrew into the Long River of time as the three attacks converged, and the resulting clash made the Myriad Worlds Continent tremble.
  • At a distant camp, a bald man and his mechanical-bodied disciple felt the ground shake while roasting an odd creature over a fire.

  • Shin brought the Ark down in a forest, where Aiolia ambushed Aizen with Lightning Speed Punch.
  • Aizen healed his wounds with the Hōgyoku and revealed that he had seen through Shin's deception.
  • Aizen warned Shin that attacking him was a mistake, while Shin said Aizen knew nothing about him.
  • The Pope appeared with Camus and Shura and asked Shin whether killing Aizen would fulfill their agreement.

Ch. 1620The Ambushers

Shin watched as Aizen, empowered by the Hōgyoku, fought the Gold Saints who had been ordered to kill him. After Aizen repelled Aiolia, Shura, and Camus, the Saints regrouped and recognized how dangerous he was.

  • Aiolia, Shura, and Camus regrouped before Aizen and accepted that they might need to abandon their pride to survive.

Ch. 1621The Pope

Shin and the Pope confronted Aizen and Wind Scar after the Gold Saints’ attacks failed to defeat Aizen. The Pope revealed himself as Saga and prepared to fight Wind Scar, while Shin took on Aizen.

  • The three Gold Saints unleashed their ultimate attacks, but Aizen survived and sent them flying.
  • Shin prepared a Truth-Seeking Orb strike against Aizen, but Wind Scar interrupted him with a surprise attack and was nearly caught in Shin’s spatial counterattack.
  • Aizen told Wind Scar that the Hōgyoku could let him resurrect White-Clad Sword Youth, and Shin questioned how Aizen had won Wind Scar’s support.
  • The Pope joined Shin and said his three subordinates were injured, so he would fight Wind Scar himself while Shin handled Aizen.
  • The Pope revealed himself as Saga, donned his Gemini Gold Cloth, and demanded that Wind Scar state his name.
