Chapter 10: Sharingan

"Of course it's true. How could I, your teacher, lie?" Teacher Nakamura said righteously, as if he meant to lead by example and be a role model for his students.

Suddenly, Uchiha Itachi, who hadn't said a word until now, raised his hand and asked, "Teacher, can you perform Hand Seals with one hand?"

"Hand Seals with one hand? Of course not. All twelve seals require both hands. And even if there were such a thing, how could it be more reliable and faster than using both hands?" Nakamura Hino said with absolute certainty.

Mirai rolled his eyes at Nakamura Hino's words and thought, What do you know? With your limited experience, how would you know about one-handed Hand Seals? The genius who came up with them is standing right in front of you! And what do you mean, faster or not? You can form Hand Seals with one hand and throw Shuriken with the other without missing a beat. How can a teacher like you ever teach creative students?

"Oh!" Uchiha Itachi replied, then fell silent. Nakamura continued urging the students to practice more, while Mirai seized the opportunity to pat Itachi on the shoulder. "Don't listen to Teacher Nakamura. He may be knowledgeable, but he can't know everything. Hand Seals are used to help perform ninjutsu, and in theory, you can form them with one hand. Itachi seemed pleased that someone agreed with him. He nodded to Mirai. "I understand. I'll work hard at it."

Mirai froze for a moment, then gave a wry smile. Was he really that good at winning kids over? Back on Earth, plenty of children had liked to cling to him. Just a few things he'd done without thinking had already earned Itachi's trust.

"All right, that's it for today's lesson. Go home and practice your Hand Seals, and review what we covered," Nakamura Hino said before dismissing the class. The children cheered at the news and gathered in groups of three or five, discussing where to go play.

"Mirai, want to come out and play later?" Hyuga Hiben called to Chen Fan.

Mirai smiled and waved her off. "Not today. I haven't fully mastered what we learned at school, so I'm going to study at home. Maybe tomorrow—we can go together then." He still hadn't figured out his System Shop, so he had no time to play. Besides, if he didn't come in first after graduation, he'd be killed. He naturally had to knuckle down and train.

Mirai's jaw dropped. It was so powerful—and they even sold this? It looked like it wouldn't be long before he ruled the Naruto world. Wait... when had he decided he wanted to rule it?

Mirai casually clicked on a few ninjutsu. Almost all of them were famous techniques: [Chibaku Tensei], [Tsukuyomi], [Kamui], [Chidori]...

Even the signature techniques of the Naruto protagonist were listed, along with the Rasengan and Shadow Clone Technique. The surprise had come out of nowhere, and Mirai could barely process it. What level of Kekkei Genkai was the Sharingan? It was one of the Three Great Dōjutsu of the Shinobi World, alongside the Byakugan and the Rinnegan. Each had powerful, unique abilities, and ocular techniques were the rarest kind of Kekkei Genkai.

In terms of rank alone, the Sharingan far surpassed other Kekkei Genkai. Otherwise, Orochimaru wouldn't have dreamed of possessing a pair of those eyes.

Mirai clicked "Learn." [System Notice: You have successfully awakened the Sharingan! 2 Points consumed!] At the system's prompt, Mirai froze. Then he felt a mysterious power welling up inside his eyes.

Unable to believe it, Mirai ran to the mirror. His reflection's eyes had turned blood-red, each with a ring and a single Tomoe.

"I... I awakened it just like that?!" Mirai cried in disbelief as he stared at his reflection.
